APPENDIX.

The following changes in the Bye-Laws adopted by the Senate have received the sanction of His Grace the Governor in Council.

BYE-LAW 68, Para, 2.

In the second language, if a classical language, there shall be two papers, of which one shall contain questions on the text-books and on the grammar, structure, and idiom of the language, while the other (unless it be Sanskrit) shall consist wholly of passages for translation from English into the second language, and from the second language into English. But if the second language be Sanskrit the second paper shall also contain questions on a prescribed portion of the history of Sanskrit literature, but these questions shall not bear more than one-fifth of the total marks allotted to that paper.

* In the case of Sanskrit, the paper will consist of Translation

and the history of Sanskrit literature.

BYE-LAW 81.

The examination shall include a passage from Milton or Shakespeare to be translated into the Sanskrit Anushtup metre, as well as Sanskrit prose composition. The Candidate shall also be required to possess a competent knowledge of the native system of grammar and of the history of Sanskrit literature.

The date of the commencement of the B.A., M.A., B.L., M.L., and B.C.E. Examinations is changed from the second Monday in February to the third Monday in January.
