I. Give a description of the red and white corpuscules of the blood including their appearance, composition, properties and uses.

II. Describe the minute structure of the stomach, and give an account of the secretion of the gastric juice, its composition and action on food.

III.

What are the functions of the Portio Dura, the Pneumogastric and the Glosso-Pharyngeal nerves.

IV. What is the composition of Normal Urine? What circumstances influence the amount excreted in 24 hours? Mention the sources of the various constituents.

MEDICINE.

I. Give a clinical history of a case of Acute Tropical Dysentery, to include the etiology, symptoms, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and morbid anatomy.

II. What are the common causes of extreme Ascites? Explain how you would make your diagnosis, 1st, as to the presence of Ascites, 2nd, as to its probable cause; and state what treatment you would adopt in the various circumstances.

III. Describe the characters, and give the time of appearance, of the cutaneous eruptions met with in the following diseases, Measles, Small-pox, Typhus Fever, Typhoid Fever, and Dengue.

IV. Explain the difference between retention, and suppression of secretion; and explain how retention of a secretion may give rise to disease.

V. Give an account of the symptoms including the physical signs, likely to be present in a case of acute inflammation of the Pleura, with a large amount of effusion.

VI. What symptoms occurring in the course of a specific fever, would lead you to diagnose, the occurrence of Meningeal inflammation ?

Enumerate the various dislocations of the Hip-joint. Describe the symptoms of each, stating how you would diagnose the condition

from disease or fracture. What would be the appropriate treatment in each variety.

II. What are the causes and symptoms of anal abscess? What affection frequently results from anal abscess and how would you treat the condition ?

III. Describe in detail the treatment of a case of simple incised wound of the knee joint occurring in a healthy adult. State the various complications which may arise and the manner in which you would treat each.

IV. What are the common causes of Ectropion and Entropion ? Describe the operations for their relief.

V. Describe the operation of resection of the elbow joint, and enumerate in their proper order the parts divided.

WEDNESDAY, 10TH JULY, 10 A.M. TO 1 P.M.

MIDWIFERY AND FORENSIC MEDICINE.

IV. Describe the symptoms usually present in a case of Acute Retroflexion of the unimpregnated Uterus; and state the treatment you would adopt.

V. Describe the symptoms and treatment of poisoning by Arsenious Acid; and the means of its detection after death.

VI. If requested to examine a woman alleged to have been recently delivered, to what points would you direct your attention?

I. Enumerate the characters of a sample of usable drinking water and state the principal methods which may be employed for its purification from suspended and dissolved matters.

II.

What are the principal means which may be used for the disposal of sewage? Mention a few conditions which would lead you to prefer one system to another.

III. What appearances would lead you to infer that a particular site was malarious? State what remedial means you would adopt if it was found necessary to inhabit such a spot.
