CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

1. SCOPE.

a. This manual is published primarily for the information and guidance of ordnance maintenance personnel and others who must be familiar with the functioning of fire control instruments.

b. This manual covers the basic principles of optical theory necessary to understand the operation of fire control instruments. It contains descriptive matter and illustrations sufficient to provide a general knowledge of the principles upon which the design and construction of military optical instruments are based.
