IN WHAT THIS LIBRARY was doing during 1954, we can only say "much the same, only more so." We have tried to answer the questions of the nearly one hundred thousand persons who have come in to ask them; we have added about ten thousand items to our collection of books and documents; we have put on microfilm a great many records that were fast becoming unusable and were irreplaceable; and we have recognized some of the off-the-job interests of our clientele by setting up a circulating collection of non-occupational reading.

In the pages of this monthly bulletin, we not only list the official publications of our city but try to direct attention to material of special importance by book reviews and by listings in "Current Civic Literature." If we seem to neglect certain fields, it is because we contribute book comments each month on police affairs to "Spring 3100", on matters pertaining to firemen to "WNYF", and our Public Health Division Library issues a mimeographed monthly bibliography, “Have You Read?"

Reference to the January 1954 issue of this bulletin will recall to our readers the extent and scope of our magazine collection. To that list may be added the following eight magazines now being received:

Congressional Digest
Municipal Law Reporter

National Shorthand Reporter
Public Relations Journal

Downtown Idea Exchange
Modern Materials Handling
Refrigerating Engineering
Better Homes and Gardens
