one hundred acres, twenty rods, twenty-two yards, 6 feet, sixty-seven inches; the 2d farm contained twenty-acres, seventy-seven rods, twentynine yards, seven feet, and sixty inches; the 3d farm contained ninety-seven acres, eighty rods, fourteen yards, four feet, and six inches; and the 4th farm contained a quantity exceeding by six acres, the quantity contained in his 1st and 2d farms. How much did they all contain?

A man bought at one time, 167 hogsheads, 14 gallons, and 3 gills of wine; at another time, 210 hogsheads, 42 gallons, 2 quarts, 1 pint. 2 gills; at another time, 100 hogsheads, 30 gallons, 2 quarts,1 pint, and 3 gills; and at another time, the same quantity as at first. How much did he buy in all ?

The true solar year consists of 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 57 seconds; but as 365 days will express the length of the year sufficiently accurate for all common calculations, the questions in this work will be predicated upon that supposition.
