CHAPTER XXXV.

An Act in Addition to an Act, intitled, "An Act fupplementary to the Act, intitled, "An Act to provide more effectually for the Collection of the Duties on Goods, Wares and Merchandize, imported into the United States, and on the Tonnage of Ships or Veffels."

Sec. I.

E it enacted by the Senate and Houfe of Reprefentatives of the United States of America, in Congress affembled, That from and after the last day of June next, there shall be established, the following new

districts and ports of delivery, to wit: In the flate of Maffachusetts, a diftrict to be called the district of Ipfwich; which fhall include the waters and fhores within the faid town of Ipfwich, which fhall be the fole port of entry delivery of the fame And a collector fhall be ap pointed, to refide in the faid town of Ipfwich; and thenceforward, the office of surveyor for the faid port fhall ceafe: In the ftate o New Jersey, a district, to be called the dif trict of Little Egg-Harbour, which shall comprehend all the fhores, waters, bays, rivers and creeks from Barnegat inlet to Brigantine inlet, both 'inclufively; and the town of Tuckerton fhall be the fole port of entry for the faid diftrict: And a collector for the fame fhall be appointed, to refide at the faid town of Tuckerton; and thenceforward, the office of furveyor for the port of Little Egg-Harbour fhall ceafe. In the ftate of Maryland, a district, to be called the diftrict of Havre-deGrace; which fhall include all the fhores and waters of the Chesapeak bay, above Turkeypoint and Spes Utiæ ifland: And a collector fhall be appointed, to refide at Havre-deGrace, which fhall be the fole port of entry for the fame. In the diftrict of Newburyport, the town of Newbury fhall be a port of delivery: In the diftrict of Dighton, the towns of Berkley and Taunton fhall be of delivery.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That from and after the last day of June next, the diftrict of Hudfon, in the ftate of New-York, fhall be confined to the limits of the city of Hudfon; and all other places, which were, by the act, intitled, "An act, fupplementary to the act, intitled, "An act to provide more

And the description of the diftrict of Waldoborough, in the faid recited act, fhall be so far altered, as, instead of saying, "A place called Duck-trap," to say, "that part of a place called Duck-trap, which lies between the towns of Camden and Northport ;" and, inftead of faying, "All the fhores and waters from the middle of Damarafcotty river to Duck-trap," to fay, "all the fhores and waters from the middle of Damarafcotty river, to the fouthwardly fide of the town of Northport." That, in the state of Maryland, the district of Cedar-point fhall be called the diftrict of Nanjemoy; which fhall be the fole port of entry and delivery for the faid diftrict; and the collector fhall refide at Nanjemoy. And that in the district of Nantucket, in the ftate of Maffachusetts, the name of the port of Sherburne fhall be changed to the port of Nantucket: Provided always, that no alteration in the name or defcription of the faid diftricts fhall be conftrued to affect the compenfation of the officers thereof.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the collectors to be appointed in conformity with this act, fhall each become bound in the fum of two thousand dollars, in manner, as is by pointed law provided in like cafes: And the fame du- act to give ties, authorities and fees of office, with a fi- fecurity, milar diftribution thereof, fhall appertain to thofe appointments as are now in like cafes authorized by law. An Act for the Relief and Protection of
American Seamen.

Sec. I.
