Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he that cometh in the Name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest! MATT. XXI. 9.
1 Hosanna to the living Lord! Hosanna to the incarnate Word! To Christ, Creator, Saviour, King, Let earth, let heaven, Hosanna sing! Hosanna! Lord! Hosanna in the highest!
2 Hosanna, saints in warfare cry; Hosanna, saints at rest reply- Above, beneath us, and around, The dead, the living, swell the sound; Hosanna! Lord! Hosanna in the highest!
3 O Saviour, with protecting care, Return to this thy House of prayer: Assembled in Thy sacred name, We here Thy parting promise claim. Hosanna! Lord! Hosanna in the highest!
4 But chiefest in our cleanséd breast, Bid Thine eternal Spirit rest,
And make our secret soul to be A temple pure, and worthy Thee. Hosanna! Lord! Hosanna in the highest!
5 To God the Father, with the Son, And Holy Spirit, Three in One, Be honour, praise, and glory given, By saints on earth, and saints in heaven : Hosanna! Lord! Hosanna in the highest!
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God. REV. XII. 20.
1 Great God, what do I see and hear! The end of things created! The Judge of Mankind doth appear, On clouds of glory seated;
The trumpet sounds, the graves restore The dead which they contained before i Prepare, my soul, to meet Him.
2 The dead in Christ are first to rise, At the last trumpet's sounding; Caught up to meet Him in the skies, With joy their Lord surrounding : No gloomy fears their souls dismay; presence sheds eternal day
On those prepared to meet Him.
3 But sinners, filled with guilty fears, Behold His wrath prevailing ; For they shall rise, and find their tears And sighs are unavailing. The day of grace is past and gone; Trembling they stand before the Throne, All unprepared to meet him.
4 Great Judge, to Thee my pray'rs I pour, In deep abasement bending;
O shield me through that last dread hour, Thy wondrous love extending:
The trumpet sounds, the graves restore The dead which they contained before; Prepare, my soul, to meet Him.
Behold he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him. REV. I. 7.
1. Lo! He comes, with clouds descending,
Once for ransomed sinners slain;
Thousand thousand Saints attending Swell the triumph of His train: Alleluia!
2 Ev'ry eye shall then behold Him Rob'd in dreadful majesty ;
They who set at nought and sold Him, Pierc'd and nail'd Him to the tree, Deeply wailing
Shall the true Messiah see.
3 Ev'ry island, sea, and mountain, Heav'n and earth, shall flee away All who hate Him, must, confounded, Hear the Trump proclaim the Day: Come to judgment,
Come to judgment, come away!
4 Now redemption, long expected, See in solemn pomp appear! All His saints, by men rejected, Rise and meet Him in the air: Alleluia!
Angels, Martyrs, all are there!
5 Yea, Amen, let all adore Thee, High on Thy eternal Throne : Saviour! take the power and glory, Make Thy righteous sentence known : Oh come quickly,
Claim the kingdoms for thine own!
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Sion; behold thy King cometh unto thee. He is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt, the foal of an ass. ZECH. IX. 9.
1 Ride on ride on in Majesty! Hark, all the tribes Hosanna cry: O Saviour meek, pursue Thy road, With palms and scattered garments strowed.
