TOGETHER WITH THE MEMORIALS AND RESOLUTIONS.

Chapter 1.

[Published, March 24.]

An Act to cede the jurisdiction of the State of Wisconsin over a certain piece of land therein described, to the United States,

The people of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. That the jurisdiction of the State of Wiscon Description of sin over all that lot of ground situated, lying and being in land ceded. the first ward of the city of Milwaukee, and bounded as follows, to wit: Commencing at the corner of Wisconsin. and Milwaukee streets, thence west along Wisconsin street one hundred and twenty feet to an alley, thence north along said alley one hundred feet, thence east one hundred and twenty feet to said Milwaukee street, thence south along Milwaukee street one hundred feet to the place of beginning, being the south forty feet of lot five, and the whole of lot six, in block twelve in the first ward of said city, be, and the same is hereby ceded to the United States of America, and the same shall be exempt from taxation so long as it shall continue to be the property of the said United States: Proviced, that this act shall in no wise destroy, impair, interfere with the jurisdiction of this state over wrongs, misdemeanors or crimes committed against the laws of this State, within the territory hereby ceded, nor in the service or execution of any legal process.

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect from and after its publication.

An Act to change the name of Joseph Kingston Bergestraser, to Joseph
Kingston Burgster.

The people of the State of Wisconsin, represented in
Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The name of Joseph Kingston Bergstraser is hereby changed to Joseph Kingston Burgster, by which name he shall be hereafter known in law for all purposes whatever.

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.

An Act to repeal chapter 432 of the Session Laws of 1852, and chapter 34, 53 and 56 of the General Statutes of 1853.

The people of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 432 of the session laws of 1852, engrant agencies. titled "an act to provide for the establishment of a commissioner of emigration for the state of Wisconsin, in the city of New York," is hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. Chapter 34 of the general statutes of 1853, entitled "an act to amend chapter 432 of the session laws of 1852, entitled an act to provide for the establishment of a commissioner of emigration for the state of Wisconsin, in the city of New York," approved April 17th, 1852, is hereby repealed.

SEC. 3. Chapter 53 of the general statutes of 1853, entitled "an act to regulate the duties and to provide for paying the salary of the commissioner of emigration, and the expenses of the office, and making an appropriation therefor," is hereby repealed.

SEC. 4. Chapter 56 of the general statutes of 1853, entitled "an act for the appointment of a travelling emigrant agent," is hereby repealed.

SEC. 5. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.

Chapter 4.

[Published March 15.]

An Act to change the time for holding the Circuit Court in the counties of
Marathon and Portage in the seventh judicial circuit.

The people of the State of Wisconsin, represented in
Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

Terms of court

SECTION 1. The circuit court in the following named when held. counties shall be holden at the time hereinafter mentioned, to wit: in the county of Marathon, on the third Monday of February and last Monday of August of each year: in the county of Portage, on the first Monday of March and the second Monday in September in each year.

SEC. 2. All process, proceedings and recognizances heretofore commenced or issued, or which may be commenced or issued, in or from said courts, or either of them, and all proceedings pending therein, or returnable thereto, whether by recognizance or otherwise, shall be held and taken as returnable at the times named in this act as the times for holding the said courts respectively.

SEC. 3. All acts and parts of acts contravening the provisions of this act, are hereby repealed.

SEC. 4. This act shall be published immediately, and take effect from and after its passage. Approved, January 29, 1855.
