John Sullivan, Efq; one of the Delegates for the Province of New-Hampshire, in the Honorable the Continental Congrefs; and Brigadier General in the American Army,

This Gentleman hath faid, "It "is better that 50 Thoufand "Men fhould be flain, (him"felf among the flain), than "that 50 Thousand Men should "live to be made flaves."

The Editor of this American Edition of the Political Difquifitions, hath taken the Liberty of eternizing this Sentence, as far as this work can preferve it, because be efeems it a faying worthy of the most renowned Heroes, Legiflators, and PhiloJophers of Antiquity, and may be adopted by Heroes that now exift, and alfo by Heroes yet unborn, whofe expanded Souls can Joar above the Fetters of flavery, and gloriously dare to fight for the fafe conveyance of the rights of mankind, down to the latest Polerity.

warm's Faimly, who are always numerous among the timid, buy this Book, and unhappily think he hath too much for the MoneyHe may immediately apply the following remedy-Either tear the offenfive leaf out-Or more effectually to punish the forward Editor-Burn the whole BookThat there may be immediate Occafion for a Second EditionFor fome Minds are frangely fqueamish, and think it a great

Crime for a Struggling Bookfeller, to Support or produce Opinions, although he charge nothing for them; but had he fortunately excifed upon his Cuftomers, fo as to be efteemed rich, bis Nonfenfe would foon be converted into ferling Senfe, and bis Obtrufions would then be very acceptable, for the Slaves of Riches, would then Support him with a moft infallible Reafon-Hear him!-Hear him! — For he's very rich.
