POEM.

O quid solutis est beatius curis !
Cum mens onus reponit, ac peregrino
Labore fessi venimus larem ad nostrum,
Desideratoque acquiescimus lecto.

PREFACE.

THE subject which I have chosen has too many attractions to have totally escaped notice. Since

the time of Dryden, who says satirically,

"Home is the sacred refuge of our life,

Secured from all approaches but a wife,"

several eminent poets have successfully touched

on the same topic, especially Burns and Campbell.

But I have never met with any poem, written ex

pressly on the subject of HOME.
