PREFACE.

THE time which has elapsed since the following Sermons were written; and the fact that they were composed in the midst of many occupations, and with no view to publication; will, I trust, be received as a sufficient explanation, should any thoughts or expressions contained in them be traced to sources which I cannot recal.

I have noticed those which I have been able to ascertain,—and would particularly mention the opening of the Seventh Sermon, as, in some measure, following in argument and order one on the same subject by Reading.
