TRADE WITH THE FAR EAST.

The "FLYING DRAGON REPORTER" is a monthly newspaper printed in the Chinese language, and published in London. It is edited by a gentleman intimately acquainted with the requirements of the natives of CHINA, JAPAN, and the CHINESE Colonies in SINGAPORE, JAVA, and the Islands of the Eastern Archipelago.

Eminent success has attended the first year of its existence. The Paper is printed with metallic type from Hongkong, and illustrated with engravings specially adapted to draw the attention of the Chinese to the more important facts of Western civilization.

Agents of the highest respectability and influence in SINGAPORE, HONGKONG, SHANGHAI, YOKOHAMA, BATAVIA, &c., receive supplies of the Paper, and some of the leading English merchants subscribe to it. It finds its way to other places where Chinese are settled, and,

being finished in a style superior to any native printing, attracts the attention of the higher classes. But in addition to the circulation it must attain to among Native Readers, it will also come under the notice of the European residents, in those distant parts. These number in the ports of China and Japan from 5,000 to 6,000, and they cannot but view with some sympathy an effort such as this to bring the West and the East to a better acquaintance.

The "FLYING DRAGON REPORTER" affords the

requisite means of communication. It speaks to the Chinese in their own language. It aims at acquainting them with accidental affairs in such a way, as to enlist their sympathies, and lead them to meditate on "OUTSIDE NATIONS.”

The Paper is illustrated with subjects calculated to instruct and amuse, and so much news is given as will interest the Chinese or Japanese reader.
