(Public Examinations Board.)

CONSTITUTION.

PUBLIC EXAMINATIONS BOARD.

I. There shall be a Board called the Public Examinations Board, which shall be empowered to conduct the Primary, Junior, Senior, and Higher Public Examinations, and the Junior and Senior Commercial Examinations.

II. The Board shall have the conduct of all the administrative work in connection with these examinations, including the nomination of examiners.

III. The Board shall consist of the Professors and Lecturers in the Faculties of Arts and Science and the Chairman of the Board of Commercial Studies.

IV. The Board shall, in or before the month of December in each year, appoint one of its members as Chairman for the succeeding year.

V. Meetings shall be convened by the Chairman at his discretion, or by the Secretary at the request of any two members of the Board.

VI. The Board shall have power from time to time to appoint as additional members any persons who for the time being are acting as examiners in any of the said examinations.

VII. The Board shall report the results of all examinations to the Council.

PUBLIC EXAMINATIONS COMMITTEE.

VIII. There shall, in addition to the said Public Examinations Board, be a committee called the Public Examinations Committee consisting of the members of the Public Examinations Board as defined in §III and of members appointed by the Council under the next succeeding rule.

IX. The Council may appoint the following seven persons as members of the Public Examinations Committee:

1. The headmasters of St. Peter's Collegiate School and Prince Alfred College.

2. One representative of the other secondary boys' schools in South Australia, to be nominated by these schools each December.

3. One representative of the secondary girls' schools in South Australia, to be nominated by these schools each December.

4. One representative of the public schools in
South Australia, to be nominated by the
Director of Education.

5. One representative of the Christian Brothers'
College, Adelaide, and of its allied schools in
South Australia, to be nominated by this
College and these schools each December.

6. One representative of the commercial schools
in South Australia, to be nominated by these
schools each December.

X. The Chairman and Secretary of the Public Examinations Board shall respectively be ex officio the Chairman and Secretary of the Public Examinations Committee.

XI. Meetings of the Committee shall be convened by the Chairman at his discretion, or by the Secretary at the request of any two members of the Committee.

XII. The powers and duties of the Committee shall be the following:

1. To determine from time to time the details of subjects for the Primary Public, Junior Public, Senior Public, Higher Public, Junior Commercial, and Senior Commercial Examinations, the scale of marks to be assigned to these, and the text-books to be studied.

2. To recommend to the Council alterations in the Regulations for the said examinations.

3. To advise the Council on all matters connected with the said examinations.
