Dover, Del., January 2, 1917. Senate convened in regular biennial session on Tuesday, January 2nd, A. D. 1917, at 12 o'clock, noon. Lieutenant Governor Ferguson presiding as President pro tempore of the Senate. Prayer by acting Chaplain Edwin Gardner. Roll call of holdover members. Members present: Messrs. Barnard, Frazier, Hart, Hickman, Hoffecker, Joseph, Mitchell, Newton and Webb. Mr. Wharton absent. Mr. Hickman made the motion that the Senate proceed to the election of temporary officers, which motion prevailed. Mr. Hickman moved that Mr. Frazier be made temporary Secretary, which motion prevailed. At the instance and request of Mr. Frazier, F. H. Davis, Esq., was called to act as assistant temporary Secretary. The certificates of election of the new members were duly and properly presented and filed. Whereupon the Lieutenant Governor appointed Mr. Hart to administer the oath of office to the new members. The certificate of election of each member and the oath follow, that is to say: The State of Delaware, New Castle County, ss. BE IT REMEMBERED, That at the General Election held on the Tuesday next after the first Monday in November in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and sixteen, for New Castle County, according to the Constitution and Laws of the State of Delaware, Thomas F. Gormley was duly elected Senator for Senatorial District Number Two, in said County in the General Assembly; which is manifest by calculating and ascertainng the aggregate amount of all the votes given for each person voted for in all the hundreds and election districts of the County, according to the provisions made by law in this behalf. In Testimony Whereof, We, James Pennewill and Herbert L. Rice, the Judges constituting the Superior Court in New Castle County, who have met and ascertained the state of the election throughout the said County, as the law requires, have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the said Superior Court to be hereunto affixed at the Court House in the said County on this Thirteenth day of November, A.
