PREFACE.

The second edition of the treatise on the Law of Infancy and Coverture was undertaken by the author with the hope and in the expectation that it might meet with something of the favor that has been accorded to the first edition. The radical changes which have been made during the past fourteen years in the laws relating to the rights of married women, has necessitated the re-writing of nearly all of the original text, and the personal examination of a vast number of authorities. It has been the aim of the author to present his views of the law, as laid down by the authorities, in a clear and concise manner and to bring the work, as far as practicable, down to the present time. The work is submitted with the hope that it may be found useful to, and meet with the approbation of the profession.
