ADORATION OF THE HOLY TRINITY.

It is meet, right, and our bounden duty to bless thee, to worship thee, to glorify thee, at all times, and in all places, for thou art God ineffable, invisible, incomprehensible, from everlasting to everlasting the same, thou, and thine only begotten Son, and Holy Spirit : thou broughtest us out of nothing into being; and when through disobedience we had fallen, thou didst raise us up again, that thou mightest bring us to heaven, and give us an inheritance in thy kingdom. For these and all other mercies we give thanks unto thee, O Father, and thine only begotten Son, and Holy Spirit, beseeching thee to continue to us evermore thy unbounded goodness, to give us each a healthful body, a clear understanding, competency of living according to our condition, a religious, and contented spirit, and all spiritual and temporal blessings, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

COLLECT.

Stir up, we beseech thee, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people; that they, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, may of thee be plenteously rewarded, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

BENEDICTORY PRAYER,

SUNDAY MORNING.

THE Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple; even the messenger of the covenant whom ye delight in behold he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.

But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire.

And he shall purify the sons of Levi, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.

For behold the day cometh that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble; and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

But unto you that love my name, shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; for God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself. Glory be to Father, &c.

COLLECT.

Almighty and everlasting God, who art always more ready to hear than we to pray, and art wont to give more than we desire or deserve, pour down upon us the abundance of thy mercy, forgiving us those things, whereof our conscience is afraid; and giving us those good things we are not worthy to ask, but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord. Amen.

Then shall all repeat

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

PRAYER AGAINST CORRUPT DESIRES.

O most glorious and blessed God, in whose presence is fulness of joy, and at whose right hand are pleasures for evermore; vouchsafe we beseech thee, to banish from our minds all superfluous cares, and immoderate desires after the things of this world, and free us from all coldness and formality, when we attend upon thee in holy and religious duties.

Let our devotion be fervent, our obedience steadfast, and our contrition sincere; let all corrupt desires be extinguished, and all vain thoughts be dispelled; that our prayers and praises may be pleasing and acceptable in thy sight, and that we may be strengthened and confirmed this day in all holy resolutions of living in thy faithful service, henceforth and for ever, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

COLLECT.

O God the King of glory, who hast exalted thine only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph unto the kingdom in heaven, we beseech thee leave us not comfortless, but send to us thine Holy Ghost, to comfort us, and exalt us unto the same place, whither our Saviour Christ is gone before, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

BENEDICTORY PRAYER.

SUNDAY EVENING.

AWAKE thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Behold I shew you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruption must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law: but thanks be to God who giveth us the victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, immoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. And seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all other things shall be added unto you. Glory be to the Father, &c.

PRAYER FOR PREPARATION.

O Lord, prepare our hearts by the constraining power of thy Holy Spirit, for that awful change which assuredly awaits us all; that while we have yet time and opportunity, we may faithfully endeavour to fulfil all things that lead to our everlasting peace, humbly repenting of our sins, and looking to our blessed Lord with a sound faith for remission and everlasting redemption, to eternal life. Amen.

Then shall all repeat

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

PRAYER FOR BLESSING ON OUR LAWFUL CALLING.

Almighty God, who in thy wise providence, hast constituted several ranks and qualities of men, that they may mutually subsist to the support of each other, teach us to be content with the station wherein thou hast been pleased to place us; grant that we may honestly and diligently discharge the duties of our calling, and without anxiety depend on thy blessing for the success of our lawful endeavours.

That however humble or contemptible our profession may be in the eyes of men, our fidelity and industry may be acceptable in thy sight; that they may bring us in return a convenient subsistence for our family in this life, and in the next the reward thou hast promised to all those that love and fear thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

COLLECT.

O Lord, we beseech thee, let thy continual pity cleanse and defend thy church; and because it cannot continue in safety without thy succour, preserve it evermore by thy help and goodness, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

BENEDICTORY PRAYER.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, &c.
