21. For Answer to Prayer.

A

LMIGHTY and Everlasting God, Who art always more ready to hear than we to pray, and art wont to give more than either we desire or deserve: Pour down upon us the abundance of Thy mercy, forgiving us those things whereof our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things which we are not worthy to ask, but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen. 22. For the Church.

LORD, favorably receive the prayers of Thy Church, that being delivered from all adversity and error, it may serve Thee in safety and freedom: and grant us Thy peace in our time; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

23. For Those who have forsaken the Faith.

ALMIGHTY and Merciful God and Father, we humbly beseech thee

to visit all those who have forsaken the Christian Faith and to reveal unto them their error, so that they may receive the Truth of Thy Holy Word, and walk in the Way that leadeth unto eternal life; through the same Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

24. For Those living in Sin.

Lord Jesus Christ, Who didst come to seek and save the lost: Have pity, we implore Thee, on all miserable captives held in the bondage of vice, lust and intemperance, delivering them from the tyranny of that blind and wicked spirit which defileth their lives and driveth them into all manner of shameful deeds; move their hearts by Thy Spirit, strengthening them to resist and overcome their besetting sin, and lead them into the liberty and purity of the sons of God; Who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end. Amen.

25. For Enemies.

ALMIGHTY, Everlasting God, Who, through Thine Only Son, our blessed Lord, hast commanded us to love our enemies, to do good to them that hate us, and to pray for them that persecute us: We earnestly beseech Thee that by Thy gracious visitation they may be led to true repentance, and may have the same love, and be of one accord, and of one mind and heart with us, and with Thy whole Church; through the same Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

26. For the Sick and Wounded.

ALMIGHTY, Everlasting God, the eternal Salvation of them that

believe: Hear our prayers in behalf of Thy servants who are sick, wounded and in sore distress, for whom we implore the aid of Thy mercy, that being restored to health, they may render thanks to Thee in Thy Church; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

27. For the Sick and Wounded.

LORD, look down from heaven, behold, visit and relieve Thy servants [N......], for whom we offer our supplications; look upon them with the eyes of Thy mercy; give them comfort and sure confidence in

Thee; defend them from the danger of the enemy, and keep them in perpetual peace and safety; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

28. A General Intercession.

LET us pray our Lord God Almighty that He would deliver the world

from all error, take away disease, ward off famine, open the prisons, set free those in bondage, grant a safe return to the wayfarers, health to the sick, and to our mariners a harbor of security.

Almighty and Everlasting God, the Consolation of the sorrowful, and the Strength of the weak: May the prayers of them that in any tribulation or distress cry unto Thee graciously come before Thee, so that in all their necessities they may mark and receive Thy manifold help and comfort; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

29. For the Nation.

3. FOR THE NATION.

GOD, Who in this land hast made the people the ministers of Thy just rule: So turn their hearts unto Thee, that holding their citizenship as a trust from Thee, they may guard, defend and use it according to Thy will, and that, serving Thee with willing, joyful and obedient hearts, they may cherish their freedom as a blessing of Thy Gospel, and strive to bring it unto all peoples; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, Amen.

30. For the President, and Those in Authority.

VERLASTING God, Almighty King, we humbly implore Thee to regard the head of our Government, N...., the President of the United States, his counsellors, and all others in authority over us, that they, guided by Thy Holy Spirit, may be sure in counsel, unwavering in duty, high in purpose, and so administer their solemn charge as will wholly serve Thy will, uphold the honor of our Nation, make for the care and secure the protection of our people, and bring victory to our righteous cause; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

31. In Time of War.

LORD God of our fathers, Who rulest over all the nations of the earth, Whose power and might none is able to withstand, and from Whom alone must come our help: Regard in compassion Thy people, upon whom has fallen the scourge of war, that, lamenting and forsaking every sin that has caused Thy displeasure, and walking in the ways which Thou hast commanded, they may take to heart Thy righteous judgments, be prepared for all trials, sustained and comforted in all distresses, and be graciously delivered, in Thine own time and way, from all threatening calamities; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

32. For the Nation.

LOOK mercifully, O Lord, we beseech Thee, on the affiction of Thy people; and let not our sins destroy us, but let Thine Almighty mercy save us; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

33. For the Success of our Arms.

LORD God of our salvation, we beseech Thee to go forth with ou. Army and Navy and, by Thy right hand and Thy mighty arm, gain for them the victory, that righteousness may be victorious, the peace which is pleasing to Thee may everywhere prevail, the reign of violence be destroyed and the way be made ready for the coming of that kingdom, before which all earthly might must fall; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

34. For Victory.

GOD, Whose ears are open unto the prayers of the righteous, bu Whose face is against them that do evil: Help us by Thy Holy Spirit so to live and to act in accordance with Thy will that we may receive Thy blessing, and that as, by Thine aid, we overcome our own sins, we may also by Thy help obtain the victory; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

35. Against the Enemies of the Nation.

LORD God Almighty, Who alone riddest away tyrants and stillest the noise and tumult of the people: Scatter, we beseech thee, the counsels of them that secretly devise mischief, and bring the dealings of the violent to naught; cast down the unjust from high places and cause the unruly to cease from troubling; put down all envious and malicious passions and subdue the haters and evil-doors, that the whole world may have rest before Thee and that all nations may serve Thee; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

36. For the Army.

GOD, Who art a Shield and Buckler to all those that trust in Thee: Stretch forth Thy mighty hand over us Thy servants and the Army in which we serve; lead us and guide us by Thy good Spirit, strengthen and defend us by Thy might, that we may be to our Land a sure defence against every enemy and may enter finally into Thine eternal kingdom; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

37. For the Navy.

LORD Jesus Christ, at Whose word of peace the waves of the sea were still: Preserve us Thy servants and the Navy in which we serve, from the perils of the great waters and the snares and violence of the enemy, that we may guard our Land against all those that would destroy or straiten its liberties so that all the inhabitants thereof may have peace and freedom to serve Thee; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

38. For the Officers of the Army and Navy.

ALMIGHTY God, Who art the King of kings and the Lord of all

power: Bless, we beseech Thee, the Officers of the Army and Navy; grant that, submitting their wills to Thy direction, they may be the executives of justice and the ministers of righteousness; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

39. For Soldiers and Sailors.

ALMIGHTY God, our Heavenly Father, we commend to Thy care

and protection those who have been called into the service of our Country; bring them, by repentance and faith, to a knowledge of Thee and Thy salvation; make Thy Word their guide, stay and comfort; protect them from the manifold temptations that beset their path; preserve them from disease, and in the hour of battle let their lives be precious in Thy sight; prepare those who shall fall for death, and those who shall survive for a life devoted to Thy service; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

40. For Soldiers and Sailors.

LMIGHTY God, Who art the Shield of the righteous: Bless, we beseech Thee, the men who are enlisted in the service of the Nation; grant them courage and devotion to fulfill their duty, the spirit of obedience to their superiors, and protection in the hour of danger; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

41. For Comrades in Arms.

GOD, Who, by Thy Holy Word, dost touch the hearts of men, and bring them, through the workings of Thy Spirit, to repentance and faith: We pray Thee for our comrades in arms, that they may be made ~ partakers of Thy saving grace, that, forsaking every evil way, and overI coming the manifold temptations that surround and assail them, they may lead Christian lives, enter the fellowship of Thy Church, and have their fruit unto holiness and the end everlasting life; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

42. For those who minister to the Sick and Wounded.

MOST Merciful Father, Who dost commit to our love and care our fellow-men in their necessities: Graciously be with and prosper all those who, after the example of the Good Samaritan, are seeking and ministering to the sick and wounded; let their ministry be abundantly blessed in bringing ease to the suffering, comfort to the sorrowing and peace to the dying, and themselves be inspired with the consecration to selfless service, knowing that inasmuch as they do it unto the least of the Master's brethren, they do it unto Him, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end. Amen.

4. FOR PRIVATE USE.

43. Preparation for Holy Communion.

LORD God, Who hast left unto us in a wonderful Sacrament a memorial of Thy Passion: Grant, we beseech Thee, that we may so use this Sacrament of Thy Body and Blood, that the fruits of Thy redemption may continually be manifest in us; Thou, Who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end.

Amen.

44. For Divine Protection.

GOD, Who art the Author of peace and Lover of concord, in knowledge of Whom standeth our eternal life, Whose service is perfect freedom: Defend us, Thy humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in Thy defence, may not fear the power of any adversaries; through the might of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

45. For Protection during the Day.

LORD, our Heavenly Father, Almighty and Everlastng God, Who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day: Defend us in the same with Thy mighty power; and grant that this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but that all our doings, being ordered by Thy governance, may be righteous in Thy_sight; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

46. For Protection during the Night.

LIGHTEN our darkness, we beseech Thee, O Lord; and by Thy great

mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of Thy Only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

47. For Courage.

EACH me, O Master, the courage with which Thou didst face Thy every duty and trial, the consecration with which Thou didst make Thy every sacrifice, that heartened by Thy blessed example, I may never waver in duty, danger or sacrifice, but as a good soldier of the Cross be enabled the better to serve the Country that I love; Who livest and reignest, etc.

48. For Purity.

ALMIGHTY God, unto Whom all hearts are open, all desires known,

and from Whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love Thee, and worthily magnify Thy Holy Name; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

49. In Loneliness.

Help me to pass the weary hours of the night and the heavy hours of the day, as Thou didst, and know that Thou art with me, as Thy Father was with Thee; lift up my heart to full communion with Thee; strengthen me for my duty, keep me constant to my trust, and let me know that however dark or desolate the hour, I am not alone, for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff be my comfort; Who livest and reignest, etc.
