ARCHDEACON FARRAR is no stranger to us. the author of the "Life of Christ," and other works, strong in intellectual inspiration and spiritual influence, he was well known in this country, and his welcome was ready for him when he visited it ten years ago. The words that he then spoke face-to-face with us were shortly afterwards published in a volume entitled "Sermons and Addresses in America," with a preface by Phillips Brooks. Other volumes have since come from his pen; and all have met with such acceptance as to suggest that a Year Book of short selections from them, for the help and enrichment of daily life, would find eager readers.
