UNIVERSITIES OF ST. ANDREWS, GLASGOW,
ABERDEEN, EDINBURGH.

That any member of either the University of St. Andrews, or the University of Glasgow, or the University of Aberdeen, or the University of Edinburgh, who shall have pursued at that University a course of study extending over three years at the least, and who shall have passed at that University all the Examinations required by Ordinance for the Degree of Master of Arts with Honours, or for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Pure Science, shall be eligible for admission to the status and privileges of a Senior Affiliated Student.

That any member of either the University of St. Andrews, or the University of Glasgow, or the University of Aberdeen, or the University of Edinburgh, who shall have passed the Preliminary Examination of the Joint Board of Examiners for the Scottish Universities, and shall at such Examination have satisfied the Examiners in Greek in the higher standard, or who shall have passed the Examination for Leaving Certificates held under the authority of the Scotch Education Department and shall at such Examination have satisfied the Examiners in Greek of at least the higher grade, or who shall have satisfied the Examiners in Greek in the Examination held at his University for the Degree of Master of Arts, shall be deemed to have shown a sufficient knowledge of Greek as required by the provisions of Statt. Tit. II. Sect. VI, 'On Universities within the United Kingdom.'

That any member of either the University of St. Andrews, or the University of Glasgow, or the University of Aberdeen, or the University of Edinburgh, who shall produce to the Secretary to the Boards of Faculties a certificate, signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts in his University, showing that he has pursued at that University a course of study extending over two Winter Sessions or one Winter Session and two Summer Sessions at the least, and that he has either (1) passed the examinations required by Ordinance for the Ordinary Degree of Master of Arts in not less than three subjects, or (2) been placed in a Class of Honours by the Examiners in an Honours Group, shall be eligible for admission to the status and privileges of a Junior Affiliated Student. UNIVERSITY OF LONDON.

That any member of the University of London, who shall have pursued at that University a course of study extending over three years at the least and who shall have obtained Honours at that University in the Final Examination for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, shall be eligible for admission to the status and privileges of an Affiliated Senior Student.

That any member of the University of London, who shall have passed at that University either the Matriculation Examination or the Intermediate or Final Examination for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts, and shall at such Examination have satisfied the Examiners in Greek, shall be deemed to have shown a sufficient knowledge of Greek as required by the provisions of Statt. Tit. II. Sect. VI. 'On Universities within the United Kingdom.'

That any member of the University of London, who shall have pursued at that University a course of study extending over two years at the least and who shall have either passed or obtained Honours in the Intermediate Examination for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, shall be eligible for admission to the status and privileges of an Affiliated Junior Student.

That any member of either the Victoria University of Manchester or the University of Liverpool or the University of Leeds or the University of Sheffield, who shall have pursued at that University a course of study extending over three academic years at the least, and who shall have passed at that University all the Examinations required for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts with Honours or for the Degree of Bachelor of Science with Honours or for the Degree of Bachelor or of Master of Laws or for the Degree of Master of Science, shall be eligible for admission to the status and privileges of an Affiliated Senior Student.

Tit. II. Sect. VI. 'On Universities within the United Kingdom.'

That any member of the University of Wales, who shall have pursued at that University a course of study extending over three years at the least, and who shall have passed at that University all the Examinations required for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts or for the Degree of Bachelor of Science and who shall have obtained Honours in any department, shall be eligible for admission to the status and privileges of an Affiliated Senior Student. That any member of the University of Wales, who shall have passed either an Intermediate, an Ordinary, or a Special Examination in the department of Greek, shall be deemed to have shown a sufficient knowledge of Greek as required by the provisions of Statt. Tit. II. Sect. VI. 'On Universities within the United Kingdom.'

That any member of the University of Wales, who shall have pursued at that University a course of study extending over two years at the least, and who shall have passed at that University at least six Examinations for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, Intermediate or Ordinary or Honours, shall be eligible for admission to the status and privileges of an Affiliated Junior Student.

UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM.

That any member of the University of Birmingham, who shall have pursued at that University a course of study extending over three years at the least, and who (1) shall have been placed in the Honours Division or in Division I in the Bachelor of Arts Examination or in the Bachelor of Science Examination at that University, or (2) shall have been admitted to the Degree of Master of Arts or to the Degree of Master of Science, shall be eligible for admission to the status and privileges of an Affiliated Senior Student. That any member of the University of Birmingham, who shall have passed at that University the Matriculation Examination, or the Intermediate Arts Examination or the Second Year Arts Examination, or the Bachelor of Arts Examination, and who shall at that Examination have satisfied the Examiners in Greek, shall be deemed to have shown a sufficient knowledge of Greek as required by the provisions of Statt. Tit. II. Sect. VI. 'On Universities within the United Kingdom.'

That any member of the University of Birmingham, who shall have pursued at that University a course of study extending over two years at the least, and who shall have passed the Second Year Arts Examination or the Examination for the Degree of Bachelor of Science, shall be eligible for admission to the privileges of an Affiliated Junior Student. II. ON AFFILIATED COLLEGES.

(i) Statute.

[Statt. Tit. II. Sect. VII.]

1. Any College or Institution within the United Kingdom or in any part of the British Dominions, being a place of education in which the majority of the students are of the age of seventeen at least, may apply to this University to be admitted to the privileges of an Affiliated College under this section of the Statutes. Provided that its members shall be incorporated by Royal Charter, or that provision shall have been otherwise made for its establishment on a permanent and efficient footing and for its government.

2. The application shall be addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, who shall report the same to the Hebdomadal Council.

3. The Hebdomadal Council, after considering such application and after making such inquiry as it shall deem necessary, shall, if it think fit, propose to Convocation that the College or Institution so applying shall be admitted to the privileges of an Affiliated College. An Affiliated College may at any time renounce such privileges: and this University may at any time by vote of Convocation withdraw the same from any Affiliated College.

4. Any member of an Affiliated College who shall have pursued at that College a course of study prescribed by it and extending over two full years, and who shall have taken Honours in an examination incident to the course, and held not less than two years from the beginning thereof, may be admitted to the status and privileges of an Affiliated Junior Student.

5. It shall be the duty of the Hebdomadal Council to draw up and submit to Convocation a statement of the conditions under which a member of an Affiliated College so admitted shall be deemed to have taken Honours as aforesaid. Every such statement, if approved by Convocation, shall have the force of regulations made by Statute.

6. The status and privileges of an Affiliated Junior Student shall be as follows:

(a) The Term in which he is matriculated shall be reckoned, for the purposes of any provisions respecting the standing of members of the University, as the fifth Term from his matriculation.

(b) An Affiliated Junior Student shall not be required to pass Responsions, or to pass in an Additional Subject at Responsions.
