d'elle, dans la crainte de son supplice, pleurant et Soupirant.

16 Hélas! Hélas! diront-ils: cette grande ville, qui étoit vêtue de fin lin, de pourpre, et d'écarlate, et qui étoit toute brillante d'or, de pierreries, et de perles !

17 Comment tant de richesses ont-elles été détruites en un instant? Tous les pilotes, et tous ceux qui sont sur les vaisseaux, les matelots, et tous ceux qui trafiquent sur la mer, se tiendront loin d'elle;

18 Et voyant la fumée de son embrasement, ils s'écrieront, en disant: Quelle ville étoit semblable à cette grande ville!

19 Ils mettront de la poussière sur leurs têtes, et crieront en pleurant et en se lamentant, et diront: Hélas! cette grande ville, dans laquelle tous ceux qui avoient des vaisseaux sur mer, s'étoient enrichis de son opulence, comment a-t-elle été réduite en désert en un instant?

20 O ciel! réjouis-toi à cause d'elle, et vous, saints apótres et prophètes, réjouissez-vous; car Dieu a exercé ses jugemens sur elle à cause de vous.

21 Alors un ange puissant prit une pierre grande comme une meule, et la jeta dans la mer, en disant: C'est ainsi que Babylone, cette grande ville, sera précipitée avec violence, et on ne la trouvera plus.

22 Et la voix des joueurs de harpe, des musiciens, des joueurs de flûte, et des trompettes, ne sera plus entendue au milieu de toi ; aucun artisan, de quelque métier que ce soit ne s'y trouvera plus; et le bruit de la meule ne s'y fera plus entendre.

the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every ship-master, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!

19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

20 Rejoice over her thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;

le ciel une grande voix, comme d'une multitude de personnes, qui disoient: Hallélujah! Le salut, la gloire, l'honneur, et la puissance appartiappartiennent au Seigneur notre Dieu.

2 Car ses jugemens sont véritables et justes, parcequ'il a jugé la grande prostituée, qui a corrompu la terre par ses impudicités, et qu'il a vengé le sang de ses serviteurs, qu'elle avoit répandu de sa main.

3 Et ils dirent une seconde fois Halléluiah! Et sa fumée montera aux siècles des siècles.

4 Et les vingt-quatre vieillards, et les quatre animaux se prosternèrent, et adorèrent Dieu, qui étoit assis sur le trône, en disant: Amen! Halléluïah!

5 Et une voix sortant du trône disoit: Louez notre Dieu, vous tous ses serviteurs, et vous qui le craignez, petits et grands!

6 J'entendis encore comme la voix d'une grande multitude, telle que le bruit des grosses

heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, ing, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he bath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

3 And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen: Alleluia.

5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters,

eaux, et celui des grands tonnerres, qui disoit: Halléluiah! car le Seigneur Dieu, le Toutpuissant, est entré dans son règne.

7 Réjouissons-nous, et faisons éclater notre joie, et donnons-lui gloire; car les noces de l'Agneau sont venues, et son épouse s'est parée ;

8 Et il lui a été donné de se vêtir de fin lin, pur et éclatant, car ce fin lin, ce sont les justices des saints.

9 Alors il me dit: Ecris: Heureux ceux qui sont appelés au banquet des noces de l'Agneau! Il me dit aussi : Ces paroles de Dieu sont véritables.

10 Alors je me jetai à ses pieds pour l'adorer; mais il me dit: Garde-toi de le faire; je suis ton compagnon de service et de tes frères qui ont le témoignage de Jésus: Adore Dieu; car le but de l'Esprit prophétique est de rendre témoignage à Jésus.

11 Je vis ensuite le ciel ouvert, et il parut un cheval blanc; et celui qui étoit monté dessus s'appeloit le FIDELE et le VERITABLE, celui qui juge et qui combat avec justice.

12 Ses yeux étoient comme une flamme de feu; il portoit sur la tête plusieurs diadêmes, et il avoit un nom écrit, que personne ne connoît que lui-même.

13 Il étoit revêtu d'une robe teinte dans le sang, et il s'appelle: LA PAROLE DE DIEU.

14 Les armées du ciel le suivoient sur des chevaux blancs, vêtues de fin lin blanc et pur.

15 Il sortoit de sa bouche une épée tranchante, pour en frap

7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage-supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True; and in righteousness doth judge and make

war.

12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew but he himself.

13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he

16 Et sur son vêtement, et sur sa cuisse, il portoit ce nom écrit: LE ROI DES ROIS, ET LE SEIGNEUR DES SEIGNEURS.

17 Je vis encore un ange qui étoit dans le soleil, et qui cria à haute voix à tous les oiseaux qui voloient par le milieu du ciel: Venez, et assemblez-vous pour le festin du grand Dieu;

18 Pour manger la chair des rois, la chair des capitaines, la chair des puissans, la chair des chevaux, et de ceux qui les montent, et la chair de tous les hommes, libres, esclaves, petits, et grands!

19 Alors je vis la bête, et les rois de la terre avec leurs armées assemblées, pour faire la guerre à celui qui étoit monté sur le cheval, et à son armée.

20 Mais la bête fut prise, et avec elle le faux prophète, qui avoit fait devant elle des prodiges, par lesquels il avoit séduit ceux qui avoient pris la marque de la bête, et qui avoient adoré son image; ils furent tous deux jetés vifs dans l'étang ardent de feu et de soufre.

21 Tout le reste fut tué par l'épée qui sortoit de la bouche de celui qui étoit monté sur le cheval; et tous les oiseaux furent rassasiés de leur chair.

should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron; and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16 And he hath on his vesture and on bis thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image.

These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

De la félicité de l'église, du règne de mille ans, et du dernier jugement.

The first and last resurrection.

du ciel un ange, qui avoit la clef de l'abîme, et une grande chaîne à la main ;

2 Et il saisit le dragon, l'ancien serpent, qui est le Diable et Satan, et le lia pour mille ans.

3 Et il le jeta dans l'abîme, il l'y enferma, et le scella sur lui, afin qu'il ne séduisît plus les nations, jusqu'à ce que les mille ans fussent accomplis; après quoi il faut qu'il soit délié pour un peu de tems.

4 Alors je vis des trônes, sur lesquels s'assirent des gens, à qui le pouvoir de juger fut donné. Je vis aussi les ames de ceux qui avoient été décapités pour le témoignage de Jésus, et pour la parole de Dieu, qui n'avoient point adoré la bête, ni son image, et qui n'avoient point pris sa marque sur leurs fronts, ou à leurs mains, et qui devoient vivre et régner avec Jésus-Christ pendant ces mille ans.

5 Mais le reste des morts ne ressuscitera point, jusqu'à ce que les mille ans soient accomplis: C'est-là la première résurrection.

6 Heureux et saint celui qui a part à la première résurrection! La seconde mort n'a point de pouvoir sur eux, mais ils seront sacrificateurs de Dieu et de Jésus-Christ, et ils régneront avec lui mille ans.

7 Et quand les mille ans se

2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand

years.

5 But the rest of the dead lived not again, until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
