THE Senate met pursuant to adjournment.

Mr. Valle presented a petition of a number of the citizens of St. Genevieve, praying that the General Assembly would grant to the trustees of said town, the exclusive right to tax and license billiard tables, within the limits of the corporation thereof.

Which was read, and

On motion of Mr. Sterigere,

Was referred to the committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. McDaniel from the Select committee to which a petition on the subject was refered, reported

"A bill to incorporate the city of Hannibal,

Which was read a first time, and

It passed to a second reading.

Mr. Montgomery from the joint committee on Enrolled Bills, reported that the committee had examined and found truly enrolled, "A memorial to Congress, on the subject of an additional superintendency of Indian Affairs." Also

"A memorial on the subject of removing the obstructions in the Des Moines river.”

Mr. Jones of Cooper from the committee on Engrossed Bills, reported that the committee had examined and found truly engrossed,

"A bill supplementary to an act regulating writs and process." "A bill to authorize the Governor to borrow money,"

Amendments made by the Senate to bills from the House of Rep resentatives to bills entitled,

"An act to incorporate the Louisiana and Columbia Rail Road Company."

"An act to charter a Rail Road from St. Louis to the valley of Bellvieu."

Mr. Montgomery from the joint committee on Enrolled bills, to which was referred, a resolution, directing an inquiry into the true condition of an act entitled

"An act to license and tax pedlers trading in boats,"

Reported, that the committee had examined the same and find that the amendments made by the Senate to said bill have been mislaid or overlooked by the enrolling clerk of the House of Representatives, and the said bill together with the amendments are now truly enrolled.

Mr. Vanarsdall from the select committee to which was referred, a petition on the subject, reported

"A bill to divorce Joab Mobley and Sarah his wife,"

Which was read a first time, and

It passed to a second reading.

Mr. Sterigere, pursuant to notice, asked and obtained leave to introduce

"A bill supplementary to an act to provide for the recovery of debts by attachment,"

Which was read a first time, and

It passed to a second reading.

"A bill to incorporate the St. Charles Rail Road."

"A bill to divorce Rebecca Ruggles, late Rebecca Smith, from the bonds of matrimony, by her contracted with Edmund L. Ruggles." "A bill to dissolve the bonds of matrimony existing between Joseph Hamilton and Rebecca Hamilton, his wife."

"A bill to view and mark a state road."

"A bill to refund money to Lewis Bolton."

"A resolution appointing an auditor to settle with James Dunica." "A memorial to Congress on the subject of attaching Saline and other counties to the Lexington land district."

"A bill to locate the county seat of Macon."

"A bill to provide for the appointment of surveyors and assessors in the new counties."

"A bill to incorporate the Stockholders of the St. Louis Theatre." "A bill to build the Wyconda bridge."

"A bill for establishing and keeping in repair, the roads in the county of Pike."

"A bill to incorporate the Cooper county Agricultural School." "A bill to regulate the collection of costs in criminal cases."

"A bill to charter the Florida and Paris Rail Road Company." also "A bill for surveying and marking out a state road from Palmyra in Marion county to Huntsville, in Randolph county."

The House has passed bills entitled,

"An act to amend an act respecting constables."

"An act to incorporate the Cape Girardeau Insurance Company." "An act to incorporate the Missouri Medical Society at St. Louis." "An act to incorporate the St. Louis and Gas Light Company," and

Have concurred in the amendments made by the Senate to a bill which originated in the House of Representatives, entitled

"An act concerning traders and pedlers ascending and descending the Mississippi and other rivers in this state.

The House has indefinitely postponed

"A bill to organize the county of Barbour," and Have passed a bill from the Senate, entitled

"An act to amend an act entitled, an act to incorporate the Missouri Insurance Company of St. Louis,"

With an amendment, in which the concurrence of the Senate is requested.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives has this day signed billls, entitled

"A memorial to Congress on the subject of an additional Superintendency of Indian Affairs."

"A memorial to Congress on the subject of the navigation of the Des Moines river."

"An act to provide for the distribution of the road and canal fund." and

"An act to amend an act entitled, an act to license and tax pedlers."

Which are herewith submitted for the signature of the President of the Senate.

The President signed said bills and they were delivered to the committee on Enrolled bills, to be presented to the Governor for his approval and signature.

"A bill to amend an act respecting School Lands," and

An engrossed bill from the House of Representatives, entitled "An act to repeal the charter of the St. Louis Railway Company," Were severally read a second time, and

Committed to a committee of the Whole House.

"A bill to authorize the governor to borrow money,"

Was read a third time, and

On motion of Mr. Sterigere,

Was referred to the committee on Ways and Means. "A bill supplementary to an act regulating writs and process," Was read a first time, and

It passed as follows:

With the engrossed amendments, made thereto by the Senate, Were read a third time and they passed.

An engrossed bill from the House of Representatives, entitled, "An act to incorporate the St. Louis and Bellevieu Rail Road Company,"

Together with the engrossed amendments made thereto by the Senate,

Were read a third time.

Mr. Weaver moved,

To amend the bill by way of ryder, by adding after the word "and" in the eleventh line of the twenty-sixth section, the words the stock of,

The ryder was read a first time, and

No objection being made,

It was read a second time, and was considered engrossed, and
The bill and amendments together with the ryder passed.

The amendments made by the House of Representatives to a bill, entitled

"An act to incorporate the St. Louis Insurance Company," Were read, and

Considered by the Senate.

The question, will the Senate concur in the amendments aforesaid? Was determined in the affirmative as follows:

The rule which requires bills to be read on three several days was dispensed with, and

The bill was read a second time, and

On motion of Mr. Vanarsdall,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the Whole House, on the orders of the day, Mr. Thompson in the chair, and after some time spent therein, the committee rose and the chairman reported that the committee had considered

"An act to incorporate the St. Louis insurance company."

"An act to incorporate the Farmers and Mechanics insurance com pany of St. Louis."
