The Speaker of the House has this day signed enrolled bills, entitled

"An act to incorporate the Union Insurance Company of the city of St. Louis."

"An act to incorporate the Salt River Navigation Company." "A memorial to Congress, to attach a certain territory to the Lexington Land District." And

"A joint resolution to allow costs in the trial of a slave."

Which are here with submitted for the signature of the President of the Senate.

The president signed said bills, and they were delivered to the committee on Enrolled Bills, to be presented to the Governor for his approval and signature.

On motion of Mr. Weaver,

The further orders of business were passed over and

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the Whole House on the orders of the day, Mr. Jones of Cooper in the chair, and after some time spent therein, the committee rose, and the chai man reported that the committee had taken into consideration a bill from the House of Representatives, entitled,

"An act to charter the Union Bank of Missouri." And

Had progressed somewhat in the consideration of said bill, but asked leave to sit again thereon.

Which was granted by the Senate.

Mr. Montgomery from the joint committee on Enrolled Bills, reported that the committee had presented to the Governor for his paproval, enrolled bills entitled

"An act to incorporate the St. Louis and Bellevieu Rail Road." "An act to repeal the charter of the St. Louis Marine Railway Company."

"An act for the benefit of Peter A. Laforge."

"An act to incorporate the Medical Society of Missouri, at Saint Louis."

"An act to amend an act entitled an act to incorporate the Marine Insurance Company of St. Louis."

"A resolution for the relief of Charles J. Drury."

"An act to incorporate the Union Insurance Company of Saint Louis."

"An act to incorporate the Salt River Navigation Company." "A memorial to Congress to attach certain territory to the Lexington land district." And

"A joint resolution to allow costs to certain persons, which accrued in the trial of a slave."

On motion of Mr. Williams,

The Senate went into secret session, on executive business,

The Senate adjourned.

GENTLEMEN-I have this day approved and signed "An act for the relief of Peter A. Laforge."

Mr. Montgomery from the joint committee on Enrolled Bills, reported that the committee had examined and found truly enrolled. bills entitled,

"An act to incorporate the St. Louis Hotel Company of the city of St. Louis," and

"An act to provide for the appointment of surveyors and assessors in the new counties."

Mr. Sterigere gave notice, that he would on to-morrow ask leave to introduce a bill to establish a state road.

An engrossed bill from the House of Representatives, entitled "An act to incorporate the Trustees of the Columbia Female Academy."

Was read a third time and it passed.

Message from the House of Representatives, by Mr. Ralls.

MR. PRESIDENT-There have been introduced into the House of Representatives bills entitled,

"A bill making additional allowances for transporting convicts to the Penitentiary."

"A bill to incorporate the United Society of Journeymen Cabinet Makers of the city of St. Louis."

"A bill to incorporate the Trust and Loan company of St. Louis." "A bill for the relief of Moses Burton and Jesse Garner.”

"A bill to incorporate the Bailey's Landing Rail Road Company." The House has passed bills entitled,

"An act to reduce the taxes."

"An act to amend an act entitled, an act to license and tax Merchants."

Which are herewith submitted for the action of the Senate.

Engrossed bills, from the House of Representatives entitled,

"An act supplementary to an act entitled, an act to establish judicial districts and circuits and to prescribe the times and places of holding courts."

"An act to incorporate the Paris and Florida Rail Road Company." "An act to dissolve the bonds of matrimony between Joseph Hamilton and Rebecca Hamilton his wife."

"An act to divorce Rebecca Ruggles late Rebecca Smith from the bonds of matrimony contracted with E. L. Ruggles." Were severally read a first time, and They passed to a second reading.

An engrossed bill from the House of Representatives entitled "An act to build the Wyconda bridge,"

An engrossed bill from the House of Representatives entitled, "An act to establish the Pike Academy,"

Was read a first time.

On motion of Mr. Robison,

The rule which requires bills to be read on three several days, was dispensed with—and

The bill was read a second time, and

It was ordered to a third reading on to-morrow.

An engrossed bill from the House of Representatives entitled, "An act concerning School Lands in the town of St. Ferdinand, (commonly called Florisant) in St. Louis county,”

Was taken up.

On motion of Mr. Campbell,

The rule which requires bills to be read on three several days was dispensed with, and

The bill read a first and second time, and

It was ordered to a third reading on to-morrow.

An engrossed bill from the House of Representatives, entitled "An act to build a bridge across Loutre creek,"

Was read a first time,

Objections being made,

The question, shall the bill be rejected?

Was determined in the affirmative as follows:

Ayes-Messrs. Ashby, Byrd, Deguire, Goforth, Gorham, Jones of Cooper, McClelland, Montgomery, Sterigere, Valle, Weaver and Williams.-13.

Nays-Messrs. Campbell, Dawson, Jones of Pike, Lee, Rawlins, Robison, Smith, Thompson and Walsh.-9.

Mr. McDaniel absent sick.

An engrossed bill from the House of Representatives, entitled "An act to build the Wyconda bridge,"

Was taken up.

Objections were made thereto, and

The question, shall the bill be rejected? Was determined in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Smith,

The Senate went into secret session, on executive business,
After which,

Message from the House of Representatives by Mr. Ralls.

MR. PRESIDENT:-The House of Representatives have this day passed bills entitled,

"An act supplementary to an act entitled, an act to regulate the apportionment of the Road and Canal Fund. Approved January 17,

1837.

Which is herewith returned to the Senate. Also

"An act to incorporate the Marion Insurance Company,” Which is here with returned.

"An act to incorporate the Hannibal, Paris and Grand river Rail Road Company," with an amendment,

Which is herewith submitted with the bill for the concurrence of the Senate.

Both of which is herewith submitted for the signature of the Presi dent of the Senate.

The President signed said bill and they were delivered to the commit tee on Enrolled bills, to be presented to the Governor for his appro val and signature.

On motion of Mr. Smith,

The Senate went into secret session on executive business, after which,

On motion of Mr. Byrd,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the Whole House, Mr. Robison in the chair, and after some time spent therein, the committee rose, and the chairman reported that the committee had resumed the consideration of a bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

"An act to charter the Union Bank of Missouri," and

Had made some further progress in the consideration thereof, but asked leave to sit again thereon.

The Senate granted leave.

"An act to incorporate the Louisiana and Columbia Rail Road Company."

Mr. Thompson asked and obtained leave and introduced,

"A bill for the relief of Daniel B. Holdman."

Which was read a first time, and

On his motion,

The rule requiring bills to be read on three several days, was dispensed with, and the bill

Was read a second time, and was considered as engrossed, and it Was ordered to a third reading on to-morrow.

Mr. Vanarsdal gave notice that he would on to-morrow, ask leave to introduce

"A bill to publish a new State Map."
