CHAPTER 1.

AN ACT for the relief the Widow and Children of Justus

'Spertzell.

Passed January 16, 1829,

The People of the State of New-York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

§ 1. All the estate and interest of the people of this state, in any lands situate in the town of Utica, and county of Oneida, of which Justus Spertzell, late of that place, died seized, acquired by the escheat of the same, in consequence of the alienage of the said Justus Spertzell, is hereby released to and vested in such persons, being inhabitants of the United States, as would take the same by descent, and in right of dower, if the said Justus Spertzell, and the persons hereby authorised to take, had been native citizens of this state.

§ 2. The persons taking under this act, take estates of the same nature and extent as they would have taken, if they and the said Justus Spertzell, had been citizens of this state.

CHAP. 2.

AN ACT for the relief of Anthony McStay, Margaret Culbert and Mary Ganly.

Passed January 16, 1829.

The People of the State of New-York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

§ 1. All the estate and interest of the people of this state, in any lands situate in the county of Madison, of which Peter McStay, late of that county, deceased, died seized, acquired by the escheat of the same, in conse

quence of the alienage of the said Peter McStay, is hereby released to and vested in such persons, being inbabitants of the United States, as would take the same by descent, and in right of dower, if the said Peter McStay and the persons hereby authorised to take, had been native citizens of this state.

§1. The persons taking under this act, take estates of the same nature and extent, as they would have taken, if they and the said Peter McStay had been citizens of this state.

CHAP. 3.

AN ACT to increase the number of Trustees of the
Methodist Episcopal Church in the City of New-York.
Passed January 20, 1829.

The People of the State of New-York, represented in
Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

§ 1. It shall be lawful for the male members, of full age, of the Methodist Episcopal Church in the city of NewYork, at the next annual election of trustees, to elect six additional trustees, who shall be distributed by ballot equally, amongst the three classes into which the trustees of the said corporation are now divided, in such manner that the whole number of trustees of the said corporation may thereafter be fifteen, and each class five; and at each succeeding annual election of trustees, the male members of said church shall elect five trustees.

CHAP. 4.

AN ACT relative to Deeds and Mortgages executed or to be executed by the Public School Society of NewYork.

Passed January 20, 1829.

The People of the State of New-York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

§ 1. That whenever by a resolution of a majority of the whole number of the trustees of the said society, at any regular meeting of the said trustees duly convened, confirmed by a vote of any subsequent regular meeting, after the said resolution shall have been published at least one month, in one of the public newspapers printed in the city of NewYork, it shall be declared necessary and proper to dispose of, grant or mortgage, any part of the real estate of the said
