Blest are the souls that hear and know,
Blest day of God! most calm, most bright,
Blest Instructer! from thy ways,
Bright Source of intellectual rays,
Bright was the guiding star that led,
Broad is the road that leads to death,
Buried in shadows of the night, By Siloam's cool and shady rill,
Can creatures to perfection find? Children of God, arise! Christ, the Lord, is risen to-day, Christians, brethren, ere we part, Come hither, all ye weary souls, Come, Holy Spirit, heavenly dove, Come, let our voices join to raise, Come, let us join our cheerful songs, Come, my soul, thy suit prepare, Come, said Jesus' sacred voice,
Come sound his praise abroad,
Come, thou Almighty King,
Come to the house of prayer,
Come, we who love the Lord,
Far from mortal cares retreating, Far from these scenes of night, Far from the world, O Lord, I flee, Father, bless thy word to all, Father divine! before thy view, Father divine! the Saviour cried, Father divine! thy piercing eye, Father, I bless thy gentle hand, Father of all! whose sovereign will, Father of light! conduct my feet, Father of light! we sing thy name, Father of mercies! God of love! Father of mercies! in thy word,
Father of peace and God of love,
Father, we own thy sovereign hand,
Father, where'er thy people meet,
Firm was my health, my day was bright, From Christ, my Lord, shall I depart?
Give me the wings of faith to rise, Give to the Lord immortal praise, Give to the winds thy fears, Glorious in thy saints appear, Glorious things of thee are spoken, Glory be to God on high, Glory to our God on high,
Glory to thee, my God, this night, God in his earthly temples lays, God, in the gospel of his Son, God is a spirit, just and wise, God is the refuge of his saints, God moves in a mysterious God, my supporter and my hope, God of eternity, from thee,
God of glory! God of love! God of mercy! God of love!
God of my childhood and my youth, God of my life! thy constant care, God of my life! through all its days, God of our lives! our thanks to thee, God of the morning, at whose voice, God of the prophets' power, God, who in various methods told, Go to dark Gethsemane, Gracious Father! now appear, Grateful notes and numbers bring,
Great Author of all nature's frame, Greatest of beings! Source of good, Great Father of each perfect gift, Great Framer of unnumbered worlds, Great Former of this various frame, Great God, attend while Zion sings, Great God! beneath whose piercing eye, Great God! in vain man's narrow view Great God! indulge my humble claim, Great God! let all our tuneful powers,
Great God! the heavens' well ordered frame, Great God! this sacred day of thine, Great God! we sing that mighty hand, Great God! whose universal sway, Great is the Lord our God,
Great Lord of earth, and seas, and skies,
Great Object of thine Israel's hope, Great Ruler of all nature's frame, Great Ruler of the earth and skies,
Great Shepherd of thine Israel,
Great Source of being and of love, Great Source of life, our souls confess,
Had I the tongues of Greeks and Jews, Hail the day that sees him rise, Happy the heart where graces reign, Happy the man whose cautious feet,
Hark! the glad sound, the Saviour comes, Hear, gracious sovereign, from thy throne, Hear what God, the Lord, hath spoken, Hear what the voice from heaven proclaims, He dies! the friend of sinners dies, Here have we seen thy face, O Lord,
How are thy servants blessed, O Lord, How beautiful their feet,
How can we adore, or worthily praise, How did my heart rejoice to hear, How glorious, Lord, art thou,
How long shall death, the tyrant, reign, How long shall dreams of earthly bliss,
How rich thy bounty, King of kings,
How shall the young secure their hearts, How shall we praise the eternal God, How short and hasty is our life,
How still and peaceful is the grave ! How swift the torrent rolls,
How well our great Preserver knows,
If human kindness meets return, I lift my soul to God,
I'll praise my Maker with my breath, Immortal God! on thee we call, In all my vast concerns with thee, In all the changing scenes of life, Indulgent God! with pitying eye, In every opening spring,
In glad amazement, Lord, I stand,
In life's gay morn, when sprightly youth,
Inquire, ye pilgrims, for the way,
In sleep's serene oblivion laid,
Interval of grateful shade,
In the soft season of thy youth,
