Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division

in the Metric System. 36. Since (Art. 33) all quantities in the metrical system may be expressed as one denomination by figures whose local. as well as intrinsic values follow the decimal system of notation, it is evident that when they are so expressed we may add, subtract, multiply, or divide them exactly as ordinary integers and decimals.
