In all work in surface measurements, pupils should be trained to think how many of the required squares are in each row, and how many rows there are. Remind pupils of the meaning of perimeter, and that feet and inches are sometimes indicated by one and two accent marks.

If you buy one ball for 25 cents and one for 35 cents, the cost of both balls will be the same as though you pay 30 cents apiece. This 30 cents is called the average price. How do you find it? See next page.
