The first step in such problems is to find what part one number is of another. 4 is what part of 16?

1% of the number is of 30, which is 5. The number required, or 100 %, is 100 times 5, which is 500. 30 is 6% of 500. The same result is obtained by dividing the given number by the rate per cent expressed decimally.
