Formation of a Battalion on Parade in Open Column, Right in front. As a general rule, a battalion will assemble on parade in open column right in front. The usual post of the commanding officer in open column is on the pivot flank of the leading company; that of the senior major, two paces from the reverse flank of the centre of the right wing, and that of the second major, two paces from the reverse flank of the centre of the left wing. The adjutant is posted two paces from the reverse flank of the right centre company.
