COMPOUND MULTIPLICATION Is the multiplying of numbers of different denominations, by a simple figure or figures whose product shall be equal to a proposed number. I. When the quantity does not exceed 12, multiply the price by the quantity, and the product will be the answer. 1. Multiply the price by the upper figure of the fraction, and divide the product by the lower, the quotient will be the answer; but when the upper figure is not more than one, dividing the price or sum by the lower figure gives the answer.
