The fame.

In the world ye Jhall have tribulation, but in me ye fhall have peace. John xvi. 13.

The peace of God, which passeth all understanding. Phil. iv. 7.

When he giveth quietness, who can make trouble? Job xxxiv. 29.

MY

Y thoughts were like the troubled fea,
Which knew no rest nor peace,
Till God fpake peace; then all was still,
The winds and waves did cease:

The world can neither give nor take,
Nor can it comprehend,

That inward peace which God does make-
That peace which knows no end.

2 It was my Saviour's legacy

In me ye

fhall have peace;

But in the world expect to find

That troubles will increase:
I find it true-the world does rage,
But peace in me doth reign;
And, fpight of all, my Lord, I truft,
Will ftill this peace maintain.

3 The burning bush was not consum'd,
For God himself was there:

The three, when Jefus made the fourth,
Found fire as soft as air.

Where God does dwell, his presence makes
A heav'n of bliss to me;

God dwells in Chrift; with him my foul
For ever longs to be.

Spiritual Joy.

My foul doth magnify the Lord; my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. Luke i. 46.

When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongues with finging. Pf. cxxvi. 1, 2.

They joy before thee as the joy of harvest, or as men rejoice when they divide the fpoil. If. ix. 3.

I WHO can have greater caufe to fing,

Who greater cause to bless,

Than we, the children of a king,
Than we who Chrift poffefs?

2 We late were Satan's captives led,
And groan'd beneath his yoke:
But to redeem us Jesus bled,

And his dominion broke.

3 Jefus we'll praise with heart and tongue,
And magnify his grace;

And this fhall be our endlefs fong-
We're fav'd alone by grace.

4 No law, nor fin, nor death, nor hell,
Shall us from Chrift divide:

May each now feel, and fing in faith, "I am his blood-bought bride!"

The fame.

My foul fhall rejoice, which thou haft redeemed. Pf. lxxi. 23.

The Lord is on my fide; I will not fear. P. cxviii. 6.

He is able to fave to the uttermoft, feeing he ever liveth. Heb. vii. 25.

IBLEST be my God that I was born
To know the joyful found,

That, though my fins fo num'rous are,
Yet
grace doth more abound.

2 Bleft be my God for what I fee;
My God for what I hear:

I hear fuch bleffed news from heav'n,
Nor earth nor hell I fear.

3

I hear that Chrift for me was born;

That Chrift for me did die ; That Chrift for me did rife again, And did ascend on high.

4 He fits at God's right hand for me,
And will return again,

To fet me on his glorious throne,
That I with him might reign.

It is well.

He hath done all things well. Mark vii. 37.
It is well. 2 Kings iv. 26.

The ways of the Lord are right. Hof. xiv. 9.

I NOW, in a fong of grateful praise,

To my dear Lord my voice I'll raise;
With all his faints I'll join to tell—
My Jefus hath done all things well.”

2 His grace was fov'reign, rich, and free, That fav'd a finful worm like me;

That pluckt me from the jaws of hell

66

My Jefus hath done all things well.”

3 Since I have felt his pard'ning love What mercies has he made me prove! Mercies which do all praise excel

66

My Jefus hath done all things well.”
4 Whene'er my Saviour and my God
On me has laid his chaft'ning rod,
I know, in all that has befell,

My Jefus hath done all things well."

5 Sometimes my

Lord his face doth hide,
To make me pray, or kill my pride:

Yet on my mind this thought does dwell-
"My Jefus hath done all things well.”

Pearl of Price.

He found one pearl of great price. Matt. xiii. 46. Chrift is all, and in all. Col. iii. II.

V'E found the pearl of greatest price;

IV'E

My heart does fing for joy!

And fing I muft-a Christ I have—
Oh what a Chrift have I!

2 Chrift is my Prophet, Priest, and King:
This Prophet guides me right;

This Prieft for me draws near to God-
A King of pow'r and might!
