QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATES OF PUPIL TEACHERS AT THE END OF THE SECOND YEAR.

1. Certificates of Health from the Managers and a Medical Practitioner.

2. Certificate of Good Conduct from the Managers.

3. Certificate of Punctuality, Diligence, Obedience, and Attention to Duties from the Master or Mistress.

4. To read with fluency, ease, and expression.

5. Recitation. To repeat forty consecutive lines of prose.

6. English Grammar and Composition.

(a) The conjunction, with

(b) The analysis of sentences;

(c) To write full notes of a lesson on a subject selected by the Inspector.

7. Arithmetic.

(a) Males. Interest and Percentages.

(b) Females. Vulgar Fractions.

8. Mathematics. (Males.) Euclid, Book I., to end of the Twenty-sixth Proposition.

9. Geography. The Colonies [Maps to be drawn in this and the following years.]

10. English History. Outlines of British History, to the accession of Henry VII.

II. Teaching. To teach a class to the satisfaction of Her Majesty's Inspector, and to show increased skill in instruction and discipline.

12. Music (where suitable means of instruction exist). Scales and intervals altered by sharps and flats.
