Mr. Sparks moved that the joint resolution be adopted. On the question, "Shall the joint resolution be adopted?" The yeas and nays were ordered, which, being taken, were as follows: Yeas-Messrs. So the question was decided in the affirmative, and the joint resolution having received the required constitutional majority, was declared adopted. On motion of Mr. Rose, action on the resolution directing the Secretary of the Senate to furnish newspapers for the members and officers of the Senate was reconsidered and upon his further motion to adopt the resolution,,the same was declared lost. No. 10), entitled: An Act to amend Chapter 340, Volume 16, Laws of Delaware, entitled, "An Act to reduce the number of Justices of the Peace in the City of Wilmington, and for other purposes", authorizing the bringing of actions before Justices of the Peace in New Castle County against non-residents. On the further motion of Mr. Sparks, Rule 14 was suspended as to this bill. And further on his motion the bill was read a second time, by its title, and referred to the Committee on Revised Statutes. Mr. Iliffe, on behalf of the Committee on Enrolled Bills, reported as duly and correctly enrolled and ready for the signature of the President, Senate Joint Resolution, No. 4, entitled: Senate Joint Resolution authorizing and directing the State Treasurer to transfer the sum of five thousand and nine hundred dollars ($5,900) from the general fund to the school fund. On motion of Mr. Sparks the invitation of Warden A. S. Meserve to visit the New Castle County Workhouse on Friday afternoon, January 17th, 1907, was accepted. Mr. President read a letter from Dr. E. H. F. Farlow informing the Senate that Hon. D. H. Boyce, a member of this body, was suffering from a severe attack of la grippe and would not be able to resume his Senatorial duties for several days. On motion of Mr. Sparks, the President of the Senate was instructed to express to Mr. Boyce the sympathy of this body in his affliction, and hoped he would soon be fully recovered. Mr. Swain, Clerk of the House, being admitted, informed the Senate that the House had passed and requested the concurrence of the Senate in the following concurrent resolution, No. 4, entitled: Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Delaware (the Senate concurring therein), that the State Librarian be and he is hereby directed to furnish penknives and fountain pens to the stenographers employed by the House of Representatives and the Senate. And presented the same to the Senate. JOINT SESSION. The hour of 12 o'clock, M., having arrived, the Senate, preceded by the President pro tempore, and attended by the Clerks and Sergeant-at-arms, proceeded to the hall of the House of Representatives, for the purpose of voting for a United States Senator, in obedience to the act of Congress, entitled: "An Act to regulate the time and manner of holding elections for Senators in Congress," passed July 25, 1866.
