TUESDAY, April 1. The Council was called to order by his Honor the Mayor, Oliver M. Hyde. Present-The Recorder, and Ald. Cicott, Craig, Doyle, Dudgeon, Duncan, Dyson, Gallagher, Gibbings, Lacroix, Marsh, Martin, Niles, Reaume and Sheley.

Dear Sir:-It gives me great pleasure-in obedience to an order of the City Council-to forward to you a view of the city of Portland, presented by the corporation of this city to the corporation of Detroit. Our great railway has brought Portland and Detroit into near neighborhood to each other, and we wish to express to you the kind feelings entertained by all our people towards those of the beautiful and flourishing "City of the Straits."
