Compound Addition teaches to find the sum of two or more numbers of several denominations. 1. Place the numbers so that those of the same denomination may stand directly under each other, and draw a line beneath them. 2. Begin at the lowest denomination, and add the 'figures in that denomination, as in simple addition ; then, as many of the next greater denomination as are contained in that sum, carry to the next denomination, and set down the remainder: proceed in the same manner to the last denomination, which must be added, as in simple addition.
