Q.30.How doth the Spirit apply to us the redemption purcha fed by Chrift?

31. What is effectual calling?

A. Effectual calling is the work of God's Spirit t, whereby, convincing us of our fin and mifery v, inlightning our minds in the knowledge of Chrift w,and renewing our wills x,

ordained; whereof he hath given affurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. 29 P John I. 11. He came unto his own, and his own received him not., 12. But as many as received him, to them gave he powerto become the fons of God, even to them that believe on his name. qTit. 3.5. Q. 32. Vhat Benefits do they that are effectualy called, partake of in this Life?

A. They that are effectually called do in this life partake of juftification z, Adoption a, Sanctification, and the feveral Benefits which in this life do either accompany or flow from them b.

Q. 33. What is Juftification?

A. Juftification is an Act of God's free grace, wherein he pardoneth all our Sins c, and accepteth us as righteous in his fight d,only for the righteoufnefs of Chrift imputed to use, and redemption that is in Jefus Chrift. v. 25 Whom God hath fet forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood to declare his righteoufnels for the remiffion of lins that are paft, through the forbearance of God. Rom. 4.6. Even as Davidalfodefcribeththebleffednefs of the man unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, v. 7.Saying,bleffed are they whole iniquities are forgiven, and whofe fins are covered, . 8. Bleffed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute fin.

Q. 34. What is adoption?

A. Adoption is an act of God's free grace g, whereby we are received into the number, and have a right to all the privileges of the fons of God h.

Q. 35. What is fanctification?

A. Sanctification is the work of God's free grace i, whereby we are renewed in the whole man after the image of God k, and are enabled more and more to die unto fin, and live unto righteousness 1.

Q. 36. What are the benefits which in this life do accompany or flow from juftification, adoption, and fanctification? A. The benefits which in this life do accompany or flow from juftification, adoption and fanctification, are, affurance of God's love, peace of confcience m, joy in the holy Ghoft n,

Knowing that a man is not juftified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jefus Chrift, even we have believed in Jefus Chrift; that we might be juftified by the faith of Chrift, and not by the works of the law for by the works of the law fhall no flefh be juftified.
