158. A Decimal Fraction, or a Decimal, is a fraction whose denominator is 10, 100, 1000, or 1 with one or more ciphers annexed. As its denominator is known, the numerator alone may be written with the decimal point, and read, according to the Rules in Arts. 24 and 26.
