EDUCATIONAL REVIEW

Manuscripts intended for publication should be addressed to The Editors of the EDUCATIONAL REVIEW, Columbia College, New York.

Correspondence relating to advertising and subscriptions, and all remittances, should be sent to the EDUCATIONAL REVIEW, 29 W. 23d St., New York.

The January issue, opening the seventh volume, will be a particularly strong one. President Eliot of Harvard

and Dr. W. T. Harris, Commissioner of Education, both members of the Committee of Ten, will contribute papers explaining the principles that have guided the committee in the preparation of their report, and outlining what results may be expected from it. Professor E. D. Perry of Columbia College, a recognized authority on the German universities, will publish a descriptive and critical article based on the volumes prepared by the German government for the Chicago Exposition. Professor Josiah Royce will conclude his extremely suggestive studies of Mental Defect and Disorder, and other important articles dealing with common school topics will appear.

During 1894 the EDUCATIONAL REVIEW will devote much attention to the Report of the Committee of Ten, Departmental Teaching in Grammar Grades, Electives in the High School, Effective Supervision in Cities and Towns, The Work of City Normal Schools, and related subjects.

REMINGTON

STANDARD TYPEWRITER

WHEN FITTED WITH THE MATHEMATICAL KEYBOARD.

Among the many topics presented to the minds of progressive teachers at present, few surpass in interest and importance the question of the value of the Typewriter as a means of training the intelligence. The constantly growing industrial importance of the writing machine as a time and laborsaving device has, to an appreciable extent, obscured the wider field which in educational matters it should—and inevitably will-occupy as an educational instrument. It promotes Neatness of Work, Care, Accuracy, Observation, and throws into bold relief before the scholar's eyes all Errors in Punctuation, Spelling, Grammar, Capitalization, etc. The observation of the print brings about a much greater attention to the details of Style of Expression, Choice of Words, Terseness of Composition. It is an invaluable assistant in school work for both teacher and scholar.

The superiority of the REMINGTON, which is now in use in many prominent educational institutions, is established beyond question. It is SIMPLE, WELL MADE, DURABLE, EASY TO LEARN AND TO OPERATE.
