ADDITION of VULGAR FRACTIONS.

R U L E.

Reduce compound fractions to fingle ones, mixed numbers to improper fractions, and fractions of different denominations to the fame denomination. Then, reduce them to a common denominator, add all the new numerators together, and under their fum write the common denominator. Bring this laft fraction to its lowest terms, to a mixed number, or to its proper quantity for the answer.

NOTE.

rft. In adding mixed numbers, it will fhorten the operation if you only reduce the fractional parts to a common denominator, and add the integers feparately.
