A common or Julian year is 365 days 6 hours nearly, but only 365 days can be used in computing each year. This leaves an excess of near 6 hours yearly, which in four years time, makes one day. This day is added to the month of February every fourth year, which is called leap-year, from its leaping or advancing a day more than any other year.
