3 Fools never raife their thoughts fo high,
Like brutes they live, like brutes they die!
Like grafs they flourish, 'till thy breath
Command them to the fhade of death.
But I fhall fhare a glorious part,
When grace hath purify'd my heart,
And fresh fupplies of joy are shed
Like holy oil to cheer my head.
Sin, my worst enemy before,

Shall vex my eyes and ears no more;
My inward foes fhall all be flain,
Nor Satan break my peace again.

6 Then fhall I fee, and hear, and know,
All I defir'd or wifh'd below;

And every power find full employ
In that eternal world of joy.

Or the blue heavens were ftretch'd abroad; Thy facred throne was fix'd above,

From everlasting thou art God.

The floods, O Lord, lift up their voice
And tofs their troubled waves on high;
But God above can ftill the noife,
And make the angry fea comply.

And thofe who in thy prefence dwell,

That happy ftation to secure,

And royal state maintains ;

His head with awful glories crown'd;
Array'd in robes of light,
Begirt with fov'reign might,
And rays of majefty around.

Upheld by thy commands,
The world fecurely ftands,

And skies and stars obey thy word;
Thy throne was fix'd on high,
Before the ftarry sky;

Eternal is thy kingdom, Lord.

In vain the noisy crowd,

Like billows fierce and loud, Against thine empire rage and roar; In vain with angry fpite,

The furly nations fight,

And dafh like waves against the shore.

Let floods and nations

rage,

And all their powers engage,

Let fwelling tides affault the fky;

The terrors of thy frown,

Shall beat their madness down;

Thy throne forever ftands on high.

Thy promises are true,

Thy grace is ever new;

There fix'd, thy church fhall ne'er remove;

Thy faints with holy fear,

Shall in thy courts appear,

And fing thine everlasting love.

HOW

Against wicked Rulers.”

OW long, O Lord, fhall wicked men
In fplendid triumph ride!

How long fhall haughty tyrants reign,
By violence and pride!

2 They say," the Lord nor fees nor hears;" When will the fools be wife?

Can he be deaf, who form'd their cars?
Or blind, who made their eyes?
3 He knows their impious tho'ts are vain,
And they fhall feel his power;

His wrath fhall pierce their fouls with pain,
In fome diftrefling hour.

4 Powers of iniquity may rife,

And frame pernicious laws;
But God, my refuge, rules the fkies,
He will defend my cause.

5 When multitudes of mournful tho'ts
Within my bofom roll,

Thy grace, which pardons all my faults,
Shall cheer my drooping foul.

6 Bleft is the man thy hands chastise,
And to his duty draw;

Thy fcourges make thy children wife,
When they forget thy law.

For God will not caft off his faints,
Nor his own promife break;

He pardons his inheritance,

For his own mercy's fake.

SING

Before Prayer.

ING to the Lord Jehovah's name,
And in his ftrength rejoice;
When his falvation is our theme,
Exalted be our voice.

2 With thanks approach his awful throne,
And pfalms of honour fing;
The great Jehovah reigns alone,
The whole creation's King,

Let princes hear, let angels know

How mean their natures feem, Thofe gods on high and gods below, When once compar'd with him.

4 Earth, with its caverns dark and deep,
Lies in his fpacious hand;-

He fix'd the feas what bounds to keep,
And where the hills must stand.

5 Come, and with humble fouls adore,
Come kneel before his face;
O may the creatures of his power
Be children of his grace.

6 Now is the time, he bends his car,
And waits for our request;

Come, left he roufe his wrath, and swear

"Ye fhall not fee
my

To thank him for his favours paft;.
To him addrefs, in joyful fongs,
The praise that to his name belongs.

For God, the Lord, enthron'd in state,
Is with unrivall'd glory great;

A King fuperior far to all

Whom by the title gods, we call.

4 The depths of earth are in his hand,
Her fecret wealth at his command;
The ftrength of hills that threat the skies,
Subjected to his empire lies.

5 The rolling ocean's vaft abyss
By the fame fov'reign right is his;
'Tis mov'd by that Almighty hand,
Which form'd and fix'd the folid land,

And bow with adoration there!
Down on our knees devoutly all
Before the Lord our Maker fall.
