children; and strive by precept, by example, and by prayer, to train them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, so that, being grounded in the faith, constrained by the love of Christ, and animated by the hope of His glory, they may become blessings to yourselves, useful in their day and generation, ornaments of the Church on earth, and members of the Church of the first-born in heaven. Be ye therefore steadfast in faith, immovable in hope, and always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

And "now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that Great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."

Receives no praise, but (though her lot be such
Toilsome and indigent) she renders much;
Just knows, and knows no more, her Bible true,
-A truth the brilliant Frenchman never knew;
And in that charter reads with sparkling eyes,

THE QUESTION STATED.

N this age of unsettled opinion, the question is often asked, especially by men of science, Is the Bible a revelation from God to man; and can sufficient evidence be adduced to show that it is?

Now these, it will readily be acknowledged, are questions of supreme importance, on which momentous issues depend; and they are obviously deserving of the most careful and serious consideration. And it is not less obvious that the Bible itself makes an authoritative claim, not merely to our reverent attention, but also to our implicit obedience. Moreover, the Bible
