which is intended to run through the volume is that expressed by the prophet, and frequently referred to by the apostle Paul, "The just shall live by his faith." It is important to show our young men that they cannot either begin to live, or continue to live to God, without faith in Him who is both the Author and Sustainer of the new life in the soul; but that having this faith abiding in them and constantly exercised, the new life becomes a necessity, as well as a source of peace and strength and hope. His It will also be observed that the life of Paul, exhibited in his writings and actings, is specially referred to, and presented as a model to the young. many-sided character is analysed, and the various graces with which it was so remarkably adorned are set forth in combination, in order to show that in him faith produced not only a great but a well-balanced mind, a symmetrical character, and a consistent life. In the supplementary part of the volume on the "Grounds of Faith," a specimen is given of one of the branches of Christian evidence, which may not be without use in this age of unsettled opinion and prejudiced doubt, and which may tend to lead our young men to study those other branches of the Christian evidence that demonstrate that the Bible is no cunningly devised fable, but the inspired Word of God. The substance of this part of the volume formed a series of articles in the Christian Evidence Journal, which has rendered such good service to the cause of Apologetics.
