"As Christ died for us, and was bu ried, so also it is to be believed, that he "went down into helli:" for according to the prophecy, and the Apostle's interpretation of it, his soul was not left in hell, nor was his Holy One suffered to see corruption *. 66 66 6. Christ did truly rise again from death, and took again his body, with "flesh, bones, and all things pertaining to "the perfection of man's nature, where"with he ascended into heaven, and there "sitteth, until he return to judge all men "at the last day." He "after his most glorious resurrection manifestly appeared "to all his Apostles, and in their sight "ascended up into heaven, to prepare a place for us, that where he is, thither we "might also ascend, and reign with him in glory." "The Holy Ghost is of the "Father and of the Son, neither made, nor "created, nor begotten, but proceeding❝ uncreate,. incomprehensible—eternal, 66 Almighty-God, and-Lord"." We acknowledge, that God did “teach the hearts "of his faithful people, by sending to them "the light of his Holy Spirit," and we pray, that we "by the same Spirit may have a right judgment in all things, and evermore rejoice in his holy comfort a " 66 66 b C These professions of faith, and the properties which are attributed to the Holy Spirit, may be justified on Scriptural arguments and authorities. He is called Lord and God, both directly and indirectly by the Apostle. He searcheth all things, " even the deep things of God," to whom he beareth the same relation as the " spirit "of a man" beareth to a man. He was sent by Christ", and " proceedeth from the Father," and "God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into our hearts." is distinct from the Father and the Son; for it was "through the Eternal Spirit, that "Christ offered himself without spot to "God1;" and yet "such as the Father is, "such is the Son, and such is the Holy "Ghost";" for the name" in which we are baptized is one, and the mystery° is one.
