R. OLIVER BYRNE’S New System of Mathematics.

Among the many reinarkable and hitherto unattainable results
which this science accomplishes, the following may be men.
tioned: the involution and evolution of numbers to any root

or power whatever; the direct calculation of the logarithm of any nuber to any base; and the general inethods of determining numerical roots of all orders of equations, and also of exponential and transcendental equations, whether the bases be known or unknown, without

the use of Tables. Byrne's Dual Arithmetic; or, the Calculus of Concrete Quanti

ties, Known and Unknown, Exponential and Transcendental, including Angular Magnitudes. With Analysis. In it will be found several new processes for shortening laborious calculations, dispensing with the use of alt tables, a method of obtaining the logarithm of any number in a few mi. nutes by direct calculation; a method of solving equations involving expo
