same; through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.j

A general Thanksgiving.

ALMIGHTY GOD, Father of all mercies, We, thine unworthy servants, do give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving kindness to us, and to all men. We bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful, and that we may shew forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives; by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom with thee and the Holy Ghost be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen.

Third Sunday after Easter.

Prayer for the obtaining of our Petitions in Christ's Name.

ALMIGHTY GOD, who hast promised to hear the petitions of them that ask in thy Son's Name; We beseech thee mercifully to incline thine ears to us, that have made now our prayers and supplications unto thee; and grant that those things, which we have faithfully asked according to thy will, may effectually be obtained, to the relief of our necessity, and to the setting forth of thy glory; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.*

The Benedictory Prayer.

THE blessing of God Almighty, the Fa ther, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be upon us, and remain with us for ever. Amen.

TUESDAY MORNING.

The Family being met together, let the Master say the Sentences of Scripture that follow, and then that which is written after the said Sentences.

I ACKNOWLEDGE my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Psalm li. 3. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Psalm li. 9.

DEARLY beloved, let us draw near to the throne of the heavenly grace, with true repentance, and unfeigned faith, and with an humble, lowly, penitent, and obedient heart; and make our humble confession to Almighty God, meekly kneeling upon our knees.a

* Order of Morning Prayer, and Communion Ser. vice.

Then let this general Confession be made, in the Name of all present, by the Master; both he and all the Family kneeling humbly upon their Knees, and saying,

ALMIGHTY GOD, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all men; We acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, Which we, from time to time, most grievously have committed, By thought, word, and deed, Against thy Divine Majesty, Provoking most justly thy wrath and indignation against us. We do earnestly repent, And are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; The remembrance of them is grievous unto us; The burden of them is intolerable. Have mercy upon us, Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; For thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ's sake, Forgive us all that is past; And grant that we may ever hereafter Serve and please thee In newness of life, To the honour and glory of thy Name; Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

b The Communion.

¶ Prayer for Absolution, to be said by the

Master.

O LORD, we beseech thee, absolve thy people from their offences; that through thy bountiful goodness we may all be delivered from the bands of those sins, which by our frailty we have committed: Grant this, O heavenly Father, for Jesus Christ's sake, our blessed Lord and Saviour. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer, by the Master and
Family.

OUR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil : For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Then likewise let him

O Lord, open thou our lips,
