The Family being met together, let the Master say the Sentence of Scripture that follows, and then that which is written after the said Sentence.
To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him : neither have we obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in his laws which he set before us. Daniel, ix.
Let us pray.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
General Confession, by the Master and
Family, all kneeling. O Most mighty God, and merciful Father, who hast compassion upon all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made ; who wouldest not the death of a siņner, but that he should rather turn from his sin, and be saved ; Mercifully forgive us our trespasses ; Receive and comfort us, who are grieved and wearied with the burden of our sins.
Thy property is always to have mercy; to thee only it appertaineth to forgive sins. And lead us not into temptation ; But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever, and

For God's Direction and Preservation.
O ALMIGHTY LORD, and everlasting God, vouchsafe, we beseech thee, to direct, sanctify, and govern, both our hearts and bodies in the ways of thy laws, and in the works of thy commandments ; that, through thy most mighty protection, both here and ever, we may be preserved in body and soul; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
For God's Blessing on this his Family.
Almighty God, we beseech thee graciously to behold this thy family, for which our Lord Jesus Christ was contented to be betrayed, and given up into the hands of wicked men, and to suffer death upon the cross, who now liveth and reigneth with
