COWLEY SCHOOL,

(OXFORD DIOCESAN CENTRAL),

NEAR OXFORD.

REPORT

OF THE

EXAMINATION, HELD DECEMBER, 1863.

MADAN

OXFORD:

PRINTED BY J. VINCENT.

COWLEY DIOCESAN SCHOOL.

THE half-yearly Distribution of Prizes to the pupils of the above School who have passed successful Examinations took place on Thursday, December 10. The Rev. J. H. Ashhurst (Rural Dean,) and the Revs. Shute, Sawyer, Peel, Huntingford, Dr. Warburton, Hill, &c., were present.

The Rev. J. H. ASHHURST, who presided, commenced the proceedings by addressing the pupils. He said, the gentleman who had come there that day to speak to them and to give away the prizes, was one whom they all knew by name, who was known personally to many of them, and who had always taken a deep interest in the School. Professor BURROWS had for several years looked after the historical papers, and from his position in the University of Oxford they were aware that they could not have a better person to come among them. In the University he was occupied in much deeper study than they were there, and his presence now among them showed the anxiety he felt in the education of the middle classes as they were educated at this School. He might speak at greater length to them, but he thought he could not do better than introduce Professor BURROWS, who would address them after the report was read.
