AN ACT

AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
EACH COUNTY IN THE STATE OF COLORADO TO PUR-
CHASE LAND FOR FAIR GROUND PURPOSES, AND TO
MANAGE, OPERATE AND CONTROL THE SAME.

Be It Enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:

Section 1. The board of county commissioners of each and every county in the State of Colorado are hereby authorized and empowered to purchase a tract of land, not exceeding 60 acres, in their respective counties, which is suitable for county fair purposes, and which shall be thereafter perpetually used, occupied, and maintained for the purpose of conducting thereon county fairs to encourage and promote agricultural, horticultural, mechanical, industrial, and live stock industries of the State of Colorado. Provided, however, That said board of county commissioners shall not in any case appropriate or expend, for the purpose of purchasing and improving said fair grounds, more than twenty thousand dollars.

Sec. 2. The board of county commissioners of any county in this state may in their discretion, after the purchase and improvement of the land for fair ground purposes as mentioned in section 1 of this act, appoint some person or persons to look after, operate, and conduct county fairs on said fair grounds during each year, or the said board of

county commissioners may in their discretion rent or lease the said fair grounds and improvements thereon for such rental and for such term or period of time as they shall deem reasonable and proper, to any corporation not for pecuniary profit duly organized under the laws of the State of Colorado for the purpose of conducting, operating, and holding county fairs for the promotion of all mechanical and industrial products, agricultural, horticultural, live stock, and other products and exhibits; also to conduct races, sports, and other entertainments usually given at county fairs.

Sec. 3. The board of county commissioners of their respective counties in this state shall have power to levy a general property tax for the purpose of purchasing and improving the fair grounds mentioned in sections 1 and 2 of this act, which said tax levy shall not exceed in any one year, one-half of one mill on each one dollar of the taxable property in said county, said taxes to be levied and collected in the same manner and at the same time as other property taxes are levied and collected in each year and until the full amount necessary for the purchase price, cost, and improvement of said land is raised, not exceeding in the aggregate the sum of twenty thousand dollars; which said tax when so levied and collected shall be by the county treasurer of the respective counties held in a separate fund County fair to be known and designated as the "County Fair Ground Fund," to be paid out by said county treasurer on the proper order or warrants issued by the board of county commissioners of the respective counties.

CHAPTER 82.

FEES AND SALARIES
CLASSIFICATION OF GUNNISON COUNTY.

AN ACT

TO FIX THE CLASSIFICATION OF GUNNISON COUNTY CON-
CERNING THE SALARIES TO BE PAID TO THE COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS AND OTHER OFFICERS OF SAID COUNTY.

Be It Enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:

Gunnison

Section 1. That for the purpose of fixing the compensation of the county commissioners and other officers therein, the county of Gunnison shall belong to and be known as a county of Division "A" of the Fourth Class. Sec. 2. All acts and parts of acts in conflict here- Repeal. with are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 83.

FEES AND SALARIES

CLASSIFICATION OF SAN JUAN COUNTY.

San Juan County fifth class for fees chargeable.

AN ACT

CONCERNING FEES TO BE COLLECTED BY THE COUNTY,
PRECINCT AND OTHER OFFICERS OF SAN JUAN COUNTY,
AND CLASSIFYING SAID COUNTY THEREFOR.

Be It Enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:

Section 1. That for the purpose of establishing fees to be collected by the county, precinct and other officers of San Juan county, in the State of Colorado, said county shall be a county of the fifth class.
