which the Reformation rescued from the superincumbent mass of traditions, fictions, and errors, that human pride, ignorance, and cupidity of dominion and filthy lucre, had gradually heaped upon these doctrines, ―he regrets not that attempt; especially at a period when a revival of those traditions, fictions, and errors, appears to be taking place in this kingdom.

To the blessing of Him who is "the Author and Giver of all good things," "without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy," and "who worketh after the counsel of his own will," the writer commends both the volume and its reader.
