A. The Chinese are remarkably shy of Strangers, whom they will not suffer to settle amongst them. They keep up an immense warlike Force for their Security, but are less engaged in Wars than any People. It is China alone that produces the great Quantities of Tea that are used in every Part of Europe.

A. The Chinese entertain the greatest Contempt for all other Nations, whom they regard as inferior to themselvesTheir Religion is gross Paganism, and they have an annual Custom in which they express their Detestation to Christianity.

4. Most of them are Wanderers, like the Tartars, and are very much addicted to thieving. They are the Descendants. of Ishmael, of whom it was foretold, that his Hand should be against every Man, and every Man's Hand against him.

A. The Isles of Japan, Formosa, Phillippine Islands, the Molucco Islands, the Isles of Sunda, the Maldives and Ceylon, with Cyprus and Rhodes in the Mediterranean; but the most considerable in Size, is New Holland, which is larger than all Europe.

40 Q. In what does the Trade of Asia consist?

A. In Tartary are Sables, Martins, Furs, Iron, Rhubarb, Musk, &c. In other Parts, Silk, Cotton, Tapestry, Mohair, Spices, Drugs, Coffee, Tea, Gold-dust, Quicksilver, Diamonds, Porcelain, and Japan Ware.

A. They subsist mostly by Plunder; are much addicted to Pyracy, or robbing on the Sea; and all the Prisoners they take are sold for Slaves, and treated with great Brutality.

A. Egypt is by far the most considerable Country of Africa. Many affecting and remarkable Events relating to this Place, are recorded in the Books of Genesis and Exodus.

5 Q. What remarkable Event has lately taken Place in Egypt?

A. An Expedition of the French, under Bonaparte, who took Possession of the Country, but were driven out again by the English, commanded by the brave Abercrombie, who fell (like General Wolfe) in the Arms of Victory.
